Principal Engineer - Client and Product Foundations Department: Engineering Team: Engineering Location: San Francisco, United States Type: Full-Time ## About the Role The Delivery Presentation organization is looking for a full-stack Principal Engineer to shape the fundamental strategy & technology for how engineers all over Uber build consumer-facing products within Uber Eats and beyond. Our teams sit at the intersection of the core user journey within our Delivery consumer apps, the backend presentation and client-side platforms that power it, the developer experience & framework evolutions driving it forward, and the future design & product ambitions we’re shaping. Today, the Uber Eats experience lives across a number of distinct surfaces, ranging from the core Uber Eats app, the Postmates app, the Uber app, and embedded within many partner apps across the globe. Our mission is to deliver a category-defining experience, no matter where it lives, while reducing the engineering complexity and continuing to accelerate our developer velocity. ## What You’ll Do - Architect and drive the long-term technical vision and roadmap for our presentation platform architecture - Lead the design and implementation of novel systems that span backend, native mobile code and webviews in our unique, in-house hybrid-native architecture - Challenge technical conventions while optimizing for low-latency server-driven UX while preserving native look & feel - Explore bold bets such as A2UI and/or other Generative UI opportunities that can fundamentally reshape how consumer experiences are delivered - Spearhead complex, cross-functional projects that require influencing and aligning multiple engineering organizations and their leadership - Build the foundational platforms and tools that allow product teams to rapidly prototype, build, and scale new customer-facing experiences while advancing Uber’s design brand & product polish - Serve as the ultimate subject matter expert on client-side and product engineering, providing technical guidance and mentorship to senior engineers across the organization - Solve sophisticated technical
