📋 POSITION OVERVIEW
We are looking for a talented and adaptable Application Engineer to become our inaugural team member in Hanoi, Vietnam. In this role, you will maintain and optimize over 100 AI vision inspection cameras installed across customer facilities in Hanoi and assist with new production line deployments.
This role calls for strong industrial automation expertise, a problem-solving mindset, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple customer sites. As the dedicated local expert, you will act as the primary technical contact for Hanoi customers, ensuring swift and reliable support as well as optimal system performance.
🚀 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
SYSTEM MAINTENANCE & SUPPORT
- Maintain and optimize 100+ Overview.ai vision inspection cameras across Hanoi customer sites
- Provide rapid troubleshooting to minimize production downtime
- Perform regular preventive maintenance and system health checks
- Oversee and coordinate a small team of contractors for routine tasks
TECHNICAL DEPLOYMENT & INTEGRATION
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot Overview.ai vision inspection systems on new production lines
- Work with various PLC platforms and protocols, including Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, and OPC UA
- Ensure seamless integration of AI inspection systems with factory automation equipment
- Use multimeters and oscilloscopes to diagnose and fix electrical and signal quality issues
CUSTOMER SUPPORT & TRAINING
- Deliver on-site technical support and guidance to customers
- Conduct training programs for customer staff on operation and basic troubleshooting
- Build trusted partnerships with factory teams, production management, and technical staff
- Document and report recurring issues to enhance product features
SYSTEM OPTIMIZATION
- Address technical challenges such as double triggering, camera response problems, or lighting inconsistencies
- Adjust PLC ladder logic as needed to resolve integration issues
- Refine inspection parameters to decrease false rejects while ensuring high detection accuracy
- Collaborate with headquarters engineering teams for system improvements
🎓 QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related discipline
- 3+ years of experience in automation, with proficiency across multiple PLC systems
- Practical experience troubleshooting electrical circuits using diagnostic tools (multimeters, oscilloscopes)
- Strong understanding of electrical concepts, including NPN/PNP sensor technology and signal conditioning
- Familiarity with PLC ladder logic and ability to make necessary modifications
- Experience managing contractors or small technical teams
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Proficiency with industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, OPC UA)
- Capability to modify circuits (e.g., resistors, capacitors) to resolve signal problems
- Knowledge of machine vision lighting and triggering systems
- Excellent practical diagnostic and problem-solving skills
LANGUAGE & COMMUNICATION
- Fluent Mandarin (native or near-native)
- Working proficiency in English for technical documentation and coordination with HQ
- Strong communication skills for client and team interactions
- Vietnamese language proficiency is a strong plus, but not required
