The Opportunity We are seeking a highly motivated Software Developer to join our Technology team. As a Software Developer, you will support the continued development and maintenance of Sequence Bio’s unique web applications. This role is critical to ensure the delivery of software needed to support our research study efforts. You will ensure that our applications and software tools support productive and secure usage. What You'll Do Application Development Build modern, responsive web solutions and maintain core system health through proactive troubleshooting. Full Stack Development Leverage CI/CD pipelines and DevOps principles to automate software delivery. Design relational data models and manage SQL-based database environments. Champion process improvements, from deployment checklists to automated testing. Growth Mindset Dedicated to mastery in software engineering and staying ahead of industry trends. The desire to embrace innovation; incorporate new knowledge and feedback/input in combination with an openness to learning and growth. Security & Data Integrity Protect all data in accordance with the company’s policies and work proactively and collaboratively with the security department in the event of any security issues that come to your attention. Who You Are Ideal Qualifications & Skills: Professional Development Experience: 2+ years of production experience building web applications, with a focus on Ruby on Rails or similar MVC frameworks. Core Programming: Background in Ruby, Python, or JavaScript, with the versatility to work across different languages and tech stacks. API Design: Experience in architecting RESTful services and seamlessly integrating third-party web services. Performance Engineering: Ability to perform optimization and performance tuning to ensure system scalability and speed. Clean Code Standards: Familiarity with design patterns and clean coding principles to ensure long-term maintainability. Agile Proficiency: Well-versed in Agile methodologies, emphasizing iterative growth and efficient sprint cycles. Cloud Infrastructure: Experience managing and deploying applications via AWS or other major cloud providers. Complex Problem Solving: A detail-oriented mindset capable of deconstructing and solving intricate technical challenges. Collaborative Growth: A team-first attitude with a passion to learn, share knowledge, and mentor others through proactive communication. Tech-Forward Workflow: Proficiency with modern collaboration and BI tools such as Slack, Asana, and Google Workspace. Valued Assets: Prior experience with Salesforce and/or working with clinical data/Electronic Health Records (EHR) is considered an asset.
