Job Description
Senior Software Engineer
Beware of Phishing Attempts: We've noticed an increase in phishing where fraudsters impersonate employees and send fake job offers to steal sensitive information. We'll never ask for financial details during the hiring process and only use "@hingehealth.com http://hingehealth.com" emails. If you receive a suspicious offer, stop communication and report it to the US FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center. To verify an email from our recruiting team, forward it to security@hingehealth.com.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Join the Commercial Catalyst team to build the intelligent automation engine that powers Hinge Health's growth. We don't just build features; we build "harnesses"—reusable, AI-driven solutions that scale our engineering velocity and operational efficiency. In this role, you will architect and ship critical internal platforms (like Client Hub and Ops Hub) while pioneering the use of autonomous agents to refactor code, generate tests, and streamline workflows. You will play a pivotal role in transforming how we deliver care by integrating AI deeply into our development lifecycle and business operations.
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
- In your first 3 months: You will dive into our tech stack (NestJS, TypeScript, React, Kafka) and ship your first features for the Client Hub or Ops Hub platforms. You will partner with Product Managers to understand the "Commercial Catalyst" roadmap and begin contributing to our "Ticket-to-PR" autonomous workflows.
- In your first 6 months: You will lead the design and delivery of a major capabilities project, such as automating Strategic Account Plans (SAP) or migrating legacy queues to Temporal. You will act as a bar-raiser for code quality, mentoring junior engineers and conducting thoughtful code reviews that enforce our Pragmatic Layered Architecture (PLA) standards.
- In your first year: You will own the technical strategy for a core domain within the Enterprise AI ecosystem. You will drive architectural improvements that reduce technical debt across the neighborhood and proactively identify opportunities to leverage AI agents for operational excellence, directly impacting the productivity of the entire R&D organization.
WHO YOU ARE
- A "Learn-it-all": You are excited by the frontier of software engineering. You don't just use AI tools like GitHub Copilot or Cursor; you actively look for ways to integrate them into your team's workflow to solve complex problems faster.
- A Trust Builder: You communicate technical trade-offs clearly to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate effectively with colleagues across time zones (Bengaluru and San Francisco).
- An Owner-Operator: You take pride in your code from design to production. You are comfortable navigating ambiguity to break down large problems into manageable, steady deliverables.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- 4+ years of experience with at least one modern programming language (e.g., TypeScript, Go).
- 3+ years of deep experience with Node.js and TypeScript in a production environment.
- Demonstrated experience designing and maintaining large-scale distributed systems or microservices.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers and leading technical projects within a team.
- Proficiency with AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to accelerate development.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with NestJS, GraphQL, and Postgres.
- Familiarity with event-driven architectures (Kafka) and workflow orchestration tools (Temporal).
- Experience migrating legacy systems (e.g., monolithic to microservices) or refactoring for architectural compliance.
- Background in healthcare technology or building enterprise-grade internal tools/platforms.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines (Docker, AWS) and "Infrastructure as Code" principle ... (truncated, view full listing at source)
