The Role: We are seeking a Senior Manager, Software Engineering to join SoFi’s Bank Platform organization — and to step in at a defining moment. You’ll own our Transaction Data Platform, the central transactional infrastructure hub, while working in close partnership with the Account Services team. This isn’t a steady-state role. It is a seat at the table for the most consequential technical transformation the company has undertaken in years. Our Transaction Data Platform is the backbone of our banking infrastructure. It ingests, normalizes, and distributes transaction events from multiple banking cores to every major SoFi product — consumer banking, investing, credit, and the member experience. You’ll lead a focused squad anchored by senior engineers, driving real-time reconciliation streams (the critical path for our banking core modernization program), its account provider strategy, and a next-generation transaction enrichment framework. You’ll also maintain close architectural alignment with Account Services, which owns the unified financial data model and the account/transaction API surface. Cross-team coordination is not a footnote in this role — it is the role. What You'll Do: Lead the Transaction Platform engineering squad through the full development lifecycle, with direct accountability for banking core modernization — the company's most strategic technical program Own the technical roadmap and execution for the Transaction Platform: real-time event replication pipelines, streaming transaction aggregation, reconciliation infrastructure, account provider integration, and a next-generation transaction enrichment framework Establish a clear technical vision for the squad; guide and challenge senior architects, raise the engineering bar, and contribute to architecture and design decisions Serve as the primary stakeholder interface for partner teams — consumer banking, investments, payments, core banking, and partner systems — ensuring alignment is proactive, dependencies are visible, and commitments are honored Translate high-level OKRs into executable campaign and sprint objectives; drive structured planning cycles and hold the team accountable for well-specified, high-quality delivery Identify and actively mitigate technical and delivery risk; exercise sound judgment on escalations and create focus and clarity for your team while maintaining full accountability Grow the team — understand hiring needs, define assessment criteria, and build engineering depth capable of thriving in a high-ambiguity, high-impact environment Define meaningful growth plans for each engineer on your team; invest consistently in coaching, performa ...
