On Toast's newest line of business, Retail, we are expanding Toast’s platform to work in retail locations. We work with some of the most innovative concepts around, mixing food and retail. Think wine bars and markets, pizzeria + liquor stores, and boardgame cafés! We are led by two startup founders and thrive on rapid build-measure-learn feedback loops and listening to the customer at all stages of the product process. We are looking for a motivated engineer to help build this product from the ground up. As a Senior Android Engineer on the Retail POS team, you will play a crucial role in identifying solutions, scoping initiatives and delivering novel features while also maintaining and enhancing core ordering, inventory and payment workflows. This is a unique opportunity to shape the vision for new customer and guest experiences. You'll work on a cross functional team of innovators, researchers and problem solvers to build technology solutions that help our retail customers thrive and grow. We are seeking a proactive and skilled Senior Android Engineer with a strong background in OOP and experience navigating legacy codebases. Your primary responsibilities will include contributing to key projects on our team’s roadmap, enhancing our POS system's efficiency and user experience. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our web-based configuration experience. A day in the life (Responsibilities) Work collaboratively with UX, PM, QA and other engineers building the POS for Retail Ensure quality by building automated testing for changes Be a driving force in the full software development lifecycle, from design and prototyping to deployment and maintenance Ensure robustness, performance, and reliability of the POS Provide technical guidance and support through code reviews and design discussions Work closely with the leads to identify high-impact opportunities Plan, scope and rapidly prototype solutions using a combination of web technologies Make technical decisions and recommendations that will lay the foundation for the future of our strategy Stay in tune with customer needs by participating in user interviews and research Leverage cutting edge AI tools to enhance your development workflow, improve velocity, and help pioneer new approaches to building - contributing to a culture of innovation and productivity across the team.
