Overview
Axle is looking to add a driven, flexible, organized, and meticulous Entomologist to provide scientific support services to the Laboratory of Malaria Immunology and Vaccinology (LMIV) in Rockville, MD
Job Requirements
Perform mosquito-parasite assays, membrane feeding assays, and mosquito dissections
Maintain mosquito colonies and parasite cultures for vaccine candidate assessment
Conduct immunology procedures including tissue culture, serological assays, ELISA, and liquid chromatography
Calibrate and operate laboratory equipment (microscopes, balances, plate readers, spectrophotometers, pH meters, etc.)
Prepare stock solutions, media, and laboratory buffers
Maintain accurate electronic laboratory records and analyze experimental data
Write reports and organize findings for scientific publication
Work independently while meeting experiment deadlines
Provide monthly and quarterly reporting as required
Education Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Biology
Minimum of two (2) years of related laboratory experience
Knowledge of general laboratory sterile technique
Strong documentation skills and attention to detail
Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in insect rearing and/or aseptic tissue culture
Experience working with quality systems and SOPs
Interest in malaria vaccinology
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Familiarity with PowerPoint, statistical software, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and database management tools
