Position Summary: Samsung Research America seeks a Director, Gen AI, Digital Health to build on our exciting work in Gen AI for Health. We seek an outstanding leader with strong experience at the intersection of Generative AI/LLM and digital health. You must have a strong track record of success in research and development of AI / Gen AI based health or digital health products from university, healthcare delivery, or industry settings. Director, Gen AI will lead a passionate team charged with developing, incubating, and launching Gen AI based health products and applications leveraging data from wearables, smartphone, health devices at home, and EMR/EHR health data. Our focus is to provide health information and insights to consumers that will help them advance their health goals. We are looking for a leader who can create a vision for Gen AI applied to health (and socialize this vision with internal teams and stakeholders), develop new and innovative product concepts, continually enhance the team’s skills and capabilities, provide strong technical and product development guidance, and hands-on coaching to deliver safe, effective, and impactful Gen AI products. An ideal leader will have proven experience leading teams that have successfully developed and launched Gen AI products and applications in health. The Director, Gen AI, Digital Health must have technical depth and experience in Gen AI (LLMs, RAG, fine-tuning, prompt engineering, RLHF, human evaluation frameworks, responsible AI) as well as strong knowledge and experience in health / digital health (including with wearables, smartphones, health devices at home, and EMR/EHR data). Position Responsibilities: Lead a globally distributed Gen AI for Health team with strong vision and inspirational leadership Develop product concepts that are innovative, bold, and cutting-edge to help consumers achieve their health goals and establish the team’s leadership in Gen AI for Health Ensure research excellence in Gen AI / LLM (e.g. innovative product concepts or methods, IP, scientific publications) Ensure a robust product pipeline and ensure projects reach launch / commercialization milestones Ensure continued expansion of the team’s skills and capabilities in Gen AI and software development Establish and maintain industry standard software development processes in the team, leveraging modern tool chains Provide proactive, hands-on coaching and mentorship Experience requirements: Ph.D./Masters in a technical or health field (e.g. Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biophysics, Biological Sciences or health sciences) or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience 14+ years of experience at the intersection of AI and Digital Health with a track record of launching innovative products Demonstrated experience in leading globally distributed teams and mentoring managers Strong technical depth and experience in Gen AI / LLM (e.g. RAG, fine-tuning, prompt engineering, RLFH, human factors, Red teaming, safety and constitutional factors) Knowledge ...
