The Data Services Platform organization has deep technical expertise in distributed computing and container orchestration technologies like Kubernetes, Apache Hadoop, etc. and on various cloud platforms like Openshift, RKE, AWS, Azure, GCP etc. We have team members who have been the pioneers of open source projects like YuniKorn for Kubernetes. We are deeply involved in open source communities like Apache Software Foundation and CNCF. We are incubating a new team focused on Rancher Kubernetes Engine (RKE) under the Data Services Platform organization to strengthen our Embedded Container Service which serves as a foundation for the Cloudera Data Platform - On Premise offering. As a Senior Manager, Taikun and Kubernetes Support you will: Leadership & Strategy Team Incubation: Build, lead, and scale the Taikun team, fostering a culture of high craftsmanship, ownership, and technical excellence. Product Roadmap: Partner with Product Management and Technical Leads to influence the roadmap for RKE integration, ensuring it meets the scale and security demands of enterprise customers. Operational Excellence: Define and drive best practices for the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), including CI/CD, automated testing, and troubleshooting tooling for complex deployments. Technical Oversight (RKE & Kubernetes) Platform Evolution: Oversee the design and implementation of enhancements for Cluster lifecycle management (provisioning, upgrades, backup/restore), CNI-based networking, and CSI-based storage. Deep Integration: Guide the team in customizing and extending RKE using Kubernetes APIs, CRDs, Controllers, and Operators. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Actively partner with Quality Engineering and Scale Testing teams to ensure the platform meets rigorous quality and performance standards. Open Source Advocacy Community Presence: Represent Cloudera in open-source forums and technical communities (CNCF, Apache Software Foundation). Upstream Contribution: Support the team in contributing to projects like Rancher, Kubernetes, Canal, Calico, Flannel, and Longhorn. We’re excited about you if you have: 10+ years of backend development experience with strong expertise in Go-lang programming language. Solid understanding of Kubernetes Core including the K8s API Server, Scheduler, Control Plane, etcd etc. Experience with designing Kubernetes APIs, CRDs & Controllers with emphasis on backward compatibility. CNI-Level understanding of networking in K8s. Experience with CNI implementations such as Flannel/Calico/Cilium and an understanding of how this works with the host network is preferred. CSI-Level understanding of storage in K8s. Experience with Longhorn development and evolution is highly preferred. An understanding of how these services interact with the host system’s storage, networking and compute capabilities is required. Strong troubleshooting skills and experience resolving complex issues in Kubernetes, networking, and storage.
