Product Design Intern

About the Role:
As a Product Design Intern, you will join a lean, elite team defining how our users interact with autonomous flying robots that give them superpowers. You will help improve interfaces across Cloud and Mobile platforms for customers working in inspection to security and everything in-between. You will work closely with your Product Design mentor on real projects that affect users today.
Here's how you'll make an impact:
- Meet with customers to deeply understand their needs and use cases
- Work with Product Managers and Engineers to iterate on key design improvements for those customers
- Deliver pixel-perfect Figma designs or real engineered interactive prototypes to demonstrate your ideas
- Contribute to Skydio’s design system with new components and styles
- Conduct user testing and evaluations to gather critical feedback
What would make you a strong fit:
- A portfolio of design work that covers your specific contributions to end-to-end UX projects. Bonus points for specific work in: Physical Security, Fleet Management; Avionics; Photo management; Geospatial Analysis or Mapping; 3D Web Tools; Video Review Workflows; Remote Hardware Sensing (cameras, robotics, aviation)
- Working towards a bachelors, masters, or PhD in: human-computer interaction, cognitive psychology, human factors, computer science, or related field of study.
- Solid understanding of design concepts such as: web and mobile UX patterns, design systems, low fidelity and high fidelity prototyping, heuristic evaluations, user testing
- Excitement and enthusiasm for finding creative ways to solve difficult problems under constraints
- Technical skills in frontend development and willingness to get hands-on with code
Compensation Range: The hourly base salary range for this position is $47/hr for Undergrad, $53/hr for Graduate students, and $58 for PhD students*. Compensation will vary based on factors, including skill level, proficiencies, transferable knowledge, and experience.
*For some positions the pay may be dependent upon the individual's regional location.
