Data Acquisition Manager

Tech Lead Company Orcrist builds the Orcrist Intelligence Platform (OIP), a secure, Kubernetes-native system delivering geospatial intelligence worldwide. Deployments run as SaaS and self-hosted/on-prem (air-gapped). Role Own sourcing, evaluation, and lifecycle management of GEOINT data suppliers. Negotiate contracts, ensure compliance, and coordinate with engineering for onboarding and quality assurance. What you'll do Develop and execute supplier strategy for satellite imagery, aerial data, vector datasets, DEMs, and specialized geospatial content. Negotiate contracts, licensing terms, and SLAs with providers; manage renewals and compliance obligations. Coordinate technical onboarding—data formats, delivery mechanisms, metadata standards—with engineering teams. Implement governance for usage rights, export controls, data sovereignty, and audit readiness (documentation, lineage, licensing evidence). Monitor data quality and performance; coordinate issue resolution, refresh schedules, and change management with suppliers. Track budget, cost models, and ROI; recommend optimizations across data portfolio. Maintain relationships with strategic partners, government agencies, and consortiums; represent Orcrist at industry events. About you 5+ years in geospatial data acquisition, supplier management, or related roles Negotiated contracts with commercial imagery providers and/or government data sources Worked in defense, intelligence, or enterprise geospatial programs with export control constraints Demonstrated ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships and compliance obligations Nice-to-haves German language (C1+) and familiarity with European data licensing frameworks (Copernicus, INSPIRE, national mapping agencies) Existing relationships with major satellite/aerial providers (Maxar, Airbus, Planet, BlackSky, Vexcel) Experience with STAC catalogs, data marketplaces, or data governance tools Legal or procurement background supporting contract negotiation What we offer Shape the geospatial data portfolio powering Orcrist’s intelligence capabilities Work with leading data providers and cutting-edge engineering teams Remote-first Germany, travel budget, equipment and professional development support Mission-driven organization with stable growth and impactful customers
