The role is based at DroneShield’s central Sydney headquarters. Overseas on-the-ground presence includes Virginia (USA), Netherlands, Denmark, Mexico and Dubai, as well as distributors in over 70 countries worldwide. About the role DroneShield is seeking a Senior Algorithms Engineer to join our growing team in Sydney, Australia. Reporting to the SensorFusionAI (SFAI) Team Lead, you will play a pivotal role in developing the next generation of counter-drone capabilities. You will help shape DroneShield’s real-time decision and coordination engine which powers advanced algorithms for assessing and responding to complex drone swarm threats. Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations Contribute to the development and evolution of DroneShield’s advanced swarm response engine, integrating cutting-edge algorithms and real-time decision logic to optimise swarm mitigation Profile and optimise algorithms for low-latency, high-throughput execution in operational environments Develop simulation and benchmarking frameworks for validating multi-sensor fusion and engagement strategies. Integrate software components into larger multi-sensor, multi-effector systems Research and evaluate emerging techniques in counter-drone systems, assessing their applicability to operational software Contribute to the long-term roadmap of DroneShield’s world-class counter-drone solutions Build and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines ensuring high code quality, performance and stability across releases Apply modern software engineering best practices including testing, documentation and code reviews Collaborate with stakeholders to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues and bug reports Qualifications, Experience and Skills Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or a related technical field of study or equivalent practical experience Minimum of 5 years of experience in a professional software engineering environment Proficiency in Python and at least one object-oriented programming language (e.g. Go, C++) Strong grasp of data structures, algorithms, and the practical application of mathematics and physics in software development Proven experience developing and testing high-performance, real-time distributed systems using Protocol Buffers and ...
