You have experience leading groundbreaking, original reporting, an eye for innovation, and can lead a team producing original video commentary and reporting across a range of subjects and formats.</p> <p>You also have experience making sound editorial decisions, crafting original ideas, managing the work of journalists and editors, and will be the go-to resource for colleagues, providing editorial guidance and constructive feedback. You are comfortable working in a newsroom environment under intense pressure and will ensure that fellow team members are meeting deadlines.</p> <p>This is an in-office position, based in New York City and includes regular attendance in the office. There may be some flexibility to work remotely per your departmental guidance.</p> <p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p> <ul> <li> <p>Guide reporting, approve casting, frame and advance stories</p> </li> <li> <p>Edit scripts and re-writes</p> </li> <li> <p>Provide notes in edit and rough cut stages</p> </li> <li> <p>Creative ideation and visual invention</p> </li> <li> <p>Review, critique stories</p> </li> <li> <p>Ensure smooth production with clear deliverables and deadlines</p> </li> <li> <p>Guide and encourage producers to work to their maximum potential</p> </li> <li> <p>Produce original video and experiment with new video formats</p> </li> <li> <p>Manage the work of a team of journalists and editors</p> </li> <li> <p>Demonstrate support and understanding of our&nbsp;<a href="https://www.nytco.com/company/mission-and-values/" target="_blank">value of journalistic independence</a>&nbsp;and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.</p> </li> <li> <p>You will report to the Executive Producer, Opinion Shows</p> </li> </ul> <p><strong>Basic Qualifications:</strong></p> <ul> <li> <p>8+ years producing digital news videos</p> </li> <li> <p>3+ years managing direct reports.</p> </li> <li> <p>Broad knowledge of current events and news</p> </li> <li> <p>Deep curiosity about video habits and users and platforms</p> </li> <li> <p>Familiar with digital storytelling formats.</p> </li> </ul> <p><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong></p> <ul> <li> <p>Hands-on experience in production, including editing, shooting and field production.</p> </li> <li> <p>Excellent writing, editing and communication skills</p> </li> </ul> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;"></span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">REQ-019470</span></p><div class="content-pay-transparency"><div class="pay-input"><div class="title">The annual base pay range for this role is between:</div><div class="pay-range"><span>$140,000</span><span class="divider">&mdash;</span><span>$160,000 USD</span></div></div></div><div class="content-conclusion"><p>For roles in the U.S., dependent on your role, you ...
