Founded in 2016, Verkada has expanded rapidly with 15 offices and 2,200+ full-time employees.</p></div><div> <h3><strong>About the Role</strong></h3> <div>As a member of the Alarms engineering team, you will be responsible for building compelling user experiences for one of Verkada’s major new product categories. This is an opportunity to take ownership over integrated hardware/software products which keep our customers protected in times of critical need. </div> <div> </div> <div>You’ll be working alongside a small, dynamic team of frontend, backend and firmware engineers to develop these experiences. Our team operates as a startup within a startup, so you can expect a lot of autonomy and impact on the direction of the Alarms product category. </div> <div> </div> <div>If you are an experienced Firmware Engineer who is excited about building new ways to keep people safe and secure, then we want to hear from you. </div> </div> <div> <h3><strong>What You'll Do</strong></h3> <ul> <li>Develop the software which runs on our new line of Embedded Linux and RTOS based devices.</li> <li>Help architect and implement entirely new communication protocols for these devices.</li> <li>Work with the wider engineering team to implement foundational software for performing OTA updates, securing our devices, ensuring they are incredibly resilient and making sure they are delightful to use.</li> <li>Help mentor other engineers.</li> <li>Contribute to other parts of the stack (e.g. our backend services), if that interests you.</li> </ul> </div> <div> <h3><strong>What You Bring</strong></h3> <ul> <li>3+ years of work experience in an embedded engineering role.</li> <li>2+ years of experience in C or C++</li> <li>Proficiency in Shell scripting</li> <li>Strong understanding and experience in system architecture</li> <li>Experienced developing in/for embedded Linux based systems.</li> <li>Good working knowledge of common low-level interfaces: SPI, I2C, UART.</li> <li>Degree in Computer Science or related Engineering field.</li> <li>Must be willing and able to work onsite five days per week</li> </ul> <h3><strong>Nice to Have</strong></h3> <ul> <li>Experience with wireless communication protocols.</li> <li>Experience programming in Golang</li> <li>Kernel/driver development or new board bringup</li> <li>Comfortable using scope probes, reading schematics, hardware debugging</li> <li>Experience with IoT configuration or have helped integrate device into cloud backend.</li> <li>AOSP development experience</li> </ul> <h3><strong>Culture and Values</strong></h3> <ul> <li>Self-motivated problem solver: At Verkada, you will tackle large, complex problems with no clear answers. </li> <li>Teach and lea ...
