About the TeamThe Scaling team works on the design of our AI supercomputers, doing everything from workload modeling to influencing accelerator design. We’re leaning into our partnerships to make system and data center co-design an integral part of this process, and are looking for engineers to design AI supercomputers solutions for data center applicationsThis team will be responsible for working with partners to optimize their hardware for our workloads, identifying promising new deep learning accelerators, and bringing those hardware platforms to production.If you’re excited to work at the intersection of cutting edge deep learning, hardware system, and data center design this role is for you!About the RoleWe’re looking for electrical design engineers who have a deep expertise in the electrical or electronic design area, and hold strong system level design knowledge This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.In this role, you will:As a EE and Hardware Systems Design Engineer, you will work on Machine Learning/AI hardware systems projects to craft the solutions for current and future data center deploymentsWorked with hardware team on test vehicle, bring up board design, evaluating end to end system design trade offLead EE circuit level design, work with power, thermal, mechanical teams to drive AI hardware system design. You will work with product teams to ensure that goals are met with systems and will work with ASIC/FPGA, Software, and Verification teams to ensure proper verification of featuresYou will also work with the manufacturing teams to ensure that designs are manufacturable and ready for volume production, and with the field teams to support systems that are deployed in the data centerGather system requirements, define architecture, execute hardware design, and product validationLead the system bring up, validation, NPI, deployment, and sustaining of hardware solutionsWork cross-functionally with Hardware, Software, Mechanical, Thermal, Validation, Manufacturing, and external vendorsDrive system development from concept through productionLead debug and root cause analysis of deployed systemsYou might thrive in this role if you:Have at least 10 years of industry experience, including experience designing hardware systems for data center applications - experience in designing EE circuit, CPU/GPU/TPU hw system design, board bring up, system design, integration, and system bring up. Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experienceHave a strong bias toward action, and won’t take no for an answer. Have experience and good knowledge of system design experience in the mechanical and product design areas, from xPUs, board, rack level to data center levelHave a strong intrinsic desire to learn and fill in missing skills; and an equally strong talent for sharing that information clearly and concisely with others. Are comfortable with ambiguity and rapidly changing conditions.
