About the Job Peak Energy is building the next generation of energy storage systems (ESS) for a cleaner grid. We combine advanced manufacturing with smart software to deliver reliable, long-duration storage at scale. Our engineering team works at the intersection of hardware, software, and data — and we're growing fast. We are looking for a motivated engineering intern to join our Manufacturing Operations team. You'll work directly with our engineers on the software systems that power our production floor — from MES scripting and data pipelines to traceability workflows and cloud infrastructure. This is a hands-on role with meaningful ownership and direct exposure to ESS manufacturing operations. What You'll Work On Develop and debug Ignition SCADA/MES scripts for production workflows and operator interfaces Perform on-site debugging of shop floor systems and provide hands-on support during production Shadow and support requirements gathering across process, manufacturing, and design teams to understand how MES needs to reflect real operational workflows Build and improve genealogy and traceability logic for ESS assembly processes Build and maintain data pipelines connecting shop floor systems to cloud infrastructure (AWS) Support cloud-based manufacturing data infrastructure including storage, compute, and event-driven pipelines on AWS (S3, Lambda, EKS) Contribute to internal tooling and dashboards that surface production and quality data What We're Looking For Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g. Python, Go, Rust, TypeScript, etc.) Interest in manufacturing systems, automation, or energy technology Must be able to work on-site in Burlingame, CA Self-directed, communicative, and comfortable working in a fast-moving startup environment Nice to Have Exposure to SCADA, MES, PLC, or industrial automation (Ignition, Siemens, Rockwell, etc.) Familiarity with SQL or time-series data concepts Prior internship or coursework in manufacturing, robotics, or hardware-adjacent software What You'll Get Direct mentorship from engineers running a real production MES Exposure to ESS manufacturing and energy storage at scale A concrete, demo-able deliverable — shipped code, not slide decks The pay rate for this role is $30/hour, with actual pay varying based on work location, experience, and skills.
