Role Overview The Global Operations Tech (GOT) organization is responsible for the systems that enable Coupang to reliably deliver to customers within hours of orders being placed. GOT is on a mission to innovate logistics by building an efficient delivery network at breakthrough scale and speeds. As a Staff Backend Engineer in GOT, you will leverage advanced algorithms to improve Coupang’s customer experience by ensuring ultra-fast deliveries are on time even during the busiest times of the year. What You Will Do Design and develop system architecture for Global Operations Technology to ensure stable operations. Develop front/back office web services based on the Java platform. Identify dependencies across multiple domains and develop system integrations. Evaluate and adopt new technologies to enable efficient development and operations. Implement optimization algorithms to find the most cost-effective and fastest delivery methods based on rule-based logic. Qualifications Experience developing web applications using Java and Spring Framework. 7+ years of programming experience. 5+ years of hands-on experience in web application development and operations, or equivalent capabilities. Interest in experiencing Coupang’s global-level logistics systems and diverse domains. Passion for developing high-availability systems that handle large-scale traffic in a microservices architecture (MSA) environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience or understanding of microservices architecture-based system development. Experience or understanding of service development and operations in cloud environments. Experience with asynchronous event-driven architecture for large-scale processing. Experience improving code quality through development best practices. Experience with ORM tools such as JPA or Hibernate and domain modeling. Experience developing e-commerce services. Experience with build/test/deployment automation. Experience handling large-scale data using NoSQL technologies (e.g., Memcached, Redis).
