APPLY FOR THIS JOB
Ready to make connectivity from space universally accessible, secure and actionable? Then you’ve come to the right place!
E-Space is bridging Earth and space to enable hyper-scaled deployments of Internet of Things (IoT) solutions and services. We are building a highly-advanced low Earth orbit (LEO) space system that will fundamentally change the design, economics, manufacturing and service delivery associated with traditional satellite and terrestrial IoT systems.
We’re intentional, we’re unapologetically curious and we’re 100% committed to innovate space-based communications and deliver actionable intelligence that will expand global economies, protect space and our planet and enhance our overall quality of life.
We are seeking a Radiation Effects Engineer to assist our team in the execution and development of our company's Radiation Hardness Assurance Program. This includes planning and execution of radiation test campaigns as well as mission environment and spacecraft shielding analysis. This role is critical in ensuring that our hardware can withstand the harsh radiation conditions encountered in orbit. You will coordinate closely with design teams to identify parts requiring qualification, develop and manage test campaigns with external laboratories, and interpret results to guide structure design and component selection.
What you'll be doing:
Coordinate with electrical design and systems engineering teams to identify electronic components requiring radiation characterization or qualification.
Coordinate with mechanical and packaging teams to identify proper satellite structure design to mitigate dosing effects, single event effects, and spacecraft charging effects.
Develop and maintain radiation test campaign plans — including test objectives, radiation source selection, test levels, sample selection, and acceptance criteria.
Engage and manage test laboratories (e.g., heavy ion, proton, gamma, or Co-60 facilities), ensuring test setups and conditions meet project requirements
Prepare test articles and documentation in advance of test campaigns, including part and equipment lists, schematics, and biasing conditions.
Oversee or conduct test execution, coordinating logistics, facility scheduling, and data acquisition.
Analyze and interpret radiation test data, prepare reports, and communicate findings and design recommendations to internal stakeholders.
Contribute to design reviews by providing expertise on radiation effects and mitigation strategies and guide component selection and structure design.
What you bring to this role:
3+ years of experience with radiation testing or analysis of electronic components.
Working knowledge of radiation effects on semiconductors, including Total Ionizing Dose (TID), Single-Event Effects (SEE), and Displacement Damage (DD).
Working knowledge of Spacecraft Charging Effects and familiarity with NASA-HDBK-4002, NASA-STD-4005, or similar
Experience with Mission Environment Generation tools such as OMERE, SPENVIS, or similar. .
Experience preparing and executing radiation test campaigns in collaboration with an internal team and external laboratories.
Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical results clearly.
Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., MIL-STD-883, ESCC, NASA, or ESA ECSS standards).
Travel required to support test campaigns.
Extra points for the following:
Bachelor’s or master's degree in electrical engineering, Physics, or related field.
Experience with spaceborne systems or radiation-tolerant component design.
Hands-on experience in lab testing or data analysis tools (LabVIEW, MATLAB, Python).
Experience with structural dose a ... (truncated, view full listing at source)
