Senior Software Engineer, Frontend Platform

This team’s mission is to build tooling for Vanta’s engineers to easily ship and maintain quality and performant frontend experiences that are resilient to changing business needs. By focusing on fast build speeds, reliable testing, robust performance monitoring, and solid modularity in our codebase, this team helps lay the foundation for all engineers to contribute better code, faster.Our frontend infrastructure and tooling need to stay ahead of exponential growth in our customer base. As a Senior Software Engineer at Vanta, you’ll be responsible for setting technical direction to provide a strong foundation for our frontend stack and enable our infrastructure to scale with our business. You will also drive complex projects across our technical stack and mentor our talented engineering team. Your past experience will be leveraged to enable and accelerate Vanta’s growth.With a frontend focus, you will tackle challenging and highly impactful frontend and full-stack challenges that have company-wide impact. You and your team empower other Vanta engineers to leverage cutting-edge technologies and best practices to make Vanta more performant and scalable on a platform level. What you’ll do as a Frontend Platform Engineer at Vanta:Lead complex projects with multiple stakeholders and engineers to enable our business and team to scaleEvolve our frontend build system: bundlers, static analysis, caching, package management, and monorepo toolingDevelop and scale our frontend testing strategy (unit, integration, visual regression, and E2E)Maintain and evolve GraphQL tooling: code patterns, developer tooling, scalability, and reliabilityImprove web performance and observability: set SLOs, implement monitoring and alerting, and drive remediationPlan and run modernization and migration initiatives leveraging codemods and AI/LLM toolingWork with talented and kind engineers to make a significant impact on our customer base, enabling them to improve their security and prove itContribute to building Vanta’s engineering culture as we growHow to be successful in this role:Have experience building and maintaining software services and infrastructure platformsHave a deep understanding of TypeScript and ReactHave a deep understanding of writing and testing performant web client codeHave experience scaling platform systemsHave experience writing codemods and migration automationsDemonstrate empathy for the developer experience (DX) and have a strong product sense for developer toolingOpen to using AI to amplify their skills and strengthen their work - demonstrating curiosity, a willingness to learn, and sound judgment in applying AI responsibly to improve efficiency and impactThings that may allow you to standout:Experience designing and operating monorepo build systems at scale (e.g., Bazel, nx, turbo)Experience contributing to native build tooling in Rust or GoDeep understanding of GraphQL tooling and infrastructureWhat you can expect as a Vanta’n:Industry-competitive salary and equityComprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, with 100% of employee-only benefit premiums covered for most medical plans16 weeks fully-paid Parental Leave for all new parentsHealth & wellness stipendRemote workspace, internet, and cellphone stipendCommuter benefits for ...
