Hardware Manufacturing Technician About Tacit We are an early-stage, deep tech startup based in San Francisco, developing innovative hardware that rethinks human-computer interaction. We are backed by General Catalyst, Khosla Ventures, and Greylock Partners, with a founding team from Stanford, BrainGate, Oculus, and Tesla. While we can’t reveal too much just yet, our team is tackling cutting-edge engineering challenges to bring revolutionary products to life. ABOUT THE ROLE We are looking for a manufacturing technician and soldering specialist to assemble mechanical prototypes, rework miniaturized pcbs, and manufacture custom components. The ideal candidate has expertise in soldering, rework and mechanical assembly. R&D experience is a plus. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Preform assembly/subassembly tests in the lab. - Perform fine-pitch soldering and desoldering of surface-mount (SMT) components (0201, BGAs) on PCBs. - Execute rework and modifications on complex electronic assemblies based on engineering change orders (ECOs) or manufacturing needs. - Assemble, modify, and test mechanical prototypes and fixtures with high precision. - Design and prototype mechanical fixtures and tooling to assist with assembly processes, coordinating closely with hardware engineers. - Inspect boards under magnification/microscope to identify solder defects or damage and perform necessary touch-ups or repairs. REQUIREMENTS - 3-5 years of hands-on experience in soldering and rework of electronic assemblies. - Proficiency in working with fine-pitch components using microscopes and rework tools. - Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, schematics, and rework instructions. • High quality standards. - Independent work ethic, flexibility, and resourcefulness. - Effective communication and collaboration skills. - Comfortable in fast moving startup environment, excited to build independently - Ability to prioritize while multi-tasking and working with different teams. STRONG CANDIDATES MAY HAVE - Experience with basic PCB layout or Mechanical design for test fixtures. - Experience with python scripting & test equipment automation.
