<p>At Heart Aerospace we are developing the ES-30, a regional hybrid-electric airplane with a capacity of at least 30 passengers, an electric zero-emission range of 200 km and an extended hybrid range of 400+ km.</p> <p>We are ramping up the size of our team at Heart’s RD hub in Los Angeles, which focuses on the advancement of Heart’s hybrid-electric propulsion system and other key technologies.</p> <p><strong>Your mission</strong></p> <p>Heart is building a hybrid, battery-electric regional aircraft to decarbonize and democratize aviation. As a Flutter and Dynamics Engineer on the Flight Sciences team, you will develop, analyze, and verify aircraft loads and dynamics of our clean sheet hybrid-electric aircraft.</p> <p>You will report to the Flight Sciences Director. Your place of work will be at our office located in Los Angeles, California.</p> <p><strong>Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Support aircraft development via aeroelastic design and analysis.</li> <li>Inform design criteria selection by integrating with other engineering disciplines.</li> <li>Support trade studies, detailed design efforts as well as ground- and flight testing.</li> <li>Develop and improve flutter and dynamics standards, methods, tools, processes, and best practices.</li> <li>Collaborate with peers, leadership and other stakeholders to solve complex and multidisciplinary technical problems. Guide technical decisions by balancing risks and opportunities.</li> </ul> <p data-rx-type="text" data-rx-first-level="true"><strong>You'll Bring These Qualifications: </strong></p> <ul> <li>Foundation in flutter analyses including aerodynamics and flexible body dynamics.</li> <li>Software development experience in Python or Matlab or a similar language.</li> <li>Experience correlating analysis results with test data.</li> <li>Experience in CAD design tools such as Siemens NX, and ability to set up simulations from mechanical design data.</li> <li>Excellent verbal written communication skills in English.</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to work in a startup environment with high accountability expectations.</li> </ul> <p data-rx-type="text" data-rx-first-level="true"><strong>These Qualifications Would Be Nice to Have:</strong></p> <ul> <li>2+ years professional experience in aircraft Finite Element Modeling and aeroelasticity, with a solid proficiency in HyperMesh, SimCenter 3D, FEMAP or similar FEA tools and aeroelastic solver tools such as NASTRAN or ZAERO.</li> <li>Familiarity with the principles of vibration and environmental qualification testing standards like DO-160G.</li> <li>Experience with Composite Structures.</li> <li>Experience with software version control, continuous integration and maintenance best practices.</li> <li>Experience building optimization pipelines that integrate disparate workflows and tools.</li> <li>Working knowledge of transport aircraft systems and operation.</li> <li>Ability to handle and maintain Mass Properties datasets.</li> <li>Passion for aircraft and electrification of the aviation industry.</li> <li>Working knowledge of adjacent engineering disciplines like Aerodynamics, External Loads, Structures or Propulsion.</li> </ul> <p data-rx-type="text" data-rx-first-level="true"><strong>Education</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field.</li> </ul> <div class="title"><strong>Base Pay Range: </strong></div> <div class="pay-range"><strong>$113,000<span class="divider">—</span>$176,000 USD</strong></div>
