As a Senior Wire Harness Designer at Turion Space, you will responsible for the design, development, and integration of electrical harnesses for aerospace systems. This role involves creating detailed harness layouts, routing, and assembly drawings to meet stringent aerospace standards and program requirements. This is a full-time, exempt position based on-site at our Irvine, California headquarters.Key ResponsibilitiesOwn harness design and documentation from concept through launch across multiple spacecraft projectsCreate and maintain harnessing documentation including drawings, and wire diagramsWrite harness instructions and iterate based on technician feedbackServe as the wire harnessing subject matter expert (SME) and consult with other disciplinesSelect and manage vendors for aerospace electrical components including connectors, crimps, shielding, overwrap, and wiresManage harness vendors and build processes and prioritiesDefine test acceptance procedures, own final acceptance and lead troubleshooting and root cause analysisPerform harness routing within complex assemblies and ensure compliance with space constraints and environmental requirementsSupport and participate in space vehicle integration in clean roomMaintain effective communication with all the functional groups to ensure manufacturability and project success (including mechanical, manufacturing, software, test, and supply chain)Minimum QualificationsAssociate or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; or equivalent technical experience.7+ years of hands-on experience designing and assembling wire harnesses in a high-reliability environment.Proficiency in tools for harness design (Altium, CATIA Electrical, Creo Cabling, or similar).Knowledge of wire selection, shielding, EMI/EMC considerations.Confidence working in the lab automated test equipment, hipot testers, DMMs, and power supplies.Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings; excellent attention to detail.Preferred QualificationsFamiliarity with aerospace standards (AS50881, NASA-STD-8739.4, IPC/WHMA-A-620)IPC/WHMA-A-620 certificationHands on experience assembling harnesses, soldering and crimping, with D-sub, micro-D, nano-D, MIL-DTL-38999, Harwin Datamate, and other connectorsExperience with PLM systems (Teamcenter, Windchill)Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret and/or a TS/SCI clearance. Senior Wire Harness Designer Salary: $90,000 - $130,000 USD.ITAR Requirements:This position may include access to technology and/or software source code that is subject to U.S. export controls.
