Team mission Within Supply Data Engineering, part of the strategic Flywheel Data Engineering group, our mission is to build the trusted data foundations and self-serve capabilities for the supply side of our marketplace. We ingest, integrate, and structure critical internal and external datasets into reliable tables, metrics, and data products that help GetYourGuide onboard suppliers, support their success, and scale supply operations. We achieve this through close partnership with Supply, Product and Data, enabling teams to move faster with confidence. Your mission Own the data end-to-end: Deliver reliable, high-quality data solutions that enable supply decision-making. Be a trusted thought partner: Work closely with Supply, Product, and Data to translate business needs into delivered outcomes and drive adoption of trusted, self-serve data capabilities. Drive technical excellence in the stack: Proactively manage and evolve the team’s data eco-system with a long-term mindset - covering architecture, testing, monitoring/observability, performance, and cost efficiency. Improve what’s already in production: Lead system design for new capabilities and continuously improve deployed systems through pragmatic refactors, reliability work, and simplification. Unblock and level up the team: Raise the engineering bar through strong code reviews, design input, and hands-on support - unblocking other engineers and sharing expertise to grow team capability. Shape best practices and technical choices: Influence standards and technology decisions with a focus on simplicity, reusability, and maintainability . Your toolkit Experience: 5+ years in a relevant data role, with hands-on experience across data engineering technologies and analytics tooling. Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, able to explain technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences. Data engineering depth: Expertise in SQL Python , building robust data pipelines and data models, and operating data at scale in warehouses/lakes (e.g., Delta , Snowflake , PostgreSQL/MySQL ) with a strong focus on data quality, accuracy, and reliability . Strong DBT proficiency and familiarity with Spark/Hadoop . Reporting insights: Solid understanding of data visualization and enablement through tools like Looker/Tableau and notebooks (e.g., Jupyter ). Business and stakeholder focus: Able to prioritize effectively, manage stakeholders, and translate business needs into clear technical plans and deliver outcomes. Autonomy ownership: Proactive, customer-oriented, and comfortable owning projects end-to-end, balancing system health (monitoring, performance, cost) with new delivery. Team impact: Collaborative and mentoring-minded, enjoys sharing knowledge, raising standards through reviews, and helping the team succeed.
