This role plays a pivotal part in expanding Ciena’s subsea business across Asia Pacific and Japan by leading strategic sales and business development initiatives with major direct and consortium customers. The position combines executive‑level customer engagement, complex deal leadership, and deep subsea market insight to drive sustained growth, customer value, and long‑term partnerships across the region. How you will make an impact: • Lead sales and business development strategy for major Asia Pacific and Japan direct and consortium subsea accounts, with ownership of overall customer relationships • Build and sustain trusted executive‑level relationships that strengthen customer intimacy and limit competitive penetration • Define and execute account strategies that deliver against quarterly and annual bookings, revenue, and margin objectives • Drive opportunity creation, qualification, and pipeline expansion with strong focus on execution and forecast accuracy • Partner across Ciena teams, including executive leadership, product management, product marketing, legal, commercial, and sales operations, to deliver complex global programs • Own end‑to‑end sales and fulfillment activities across global customer engagements • Maintain deep understanding of customer network strategies, business drivers, and long‑term investment priorities The must haves: • 3 years of experience managing major or global customer accounts with a proven sales performance track record • 5 years of experience across sales, systems engineering, product management, or a combination of these disciplines • Strong technical knowledge of optical networking with a solid understanding of subsea networks • Demonstrated experience leading complex sales strategies and methodologies for large system sales • Strong executive‑level business communication, presentation, and relationship management skills • Ability to manage multiple priorities while driving new business growth and exceeding targets • Bachelor’s degree in business, science, engineering, or equivalent professional experience Nice to haves: • Experience selling into Asia Pacific subsea markets, including consortium and large service provider customers • Understanding of submarine consortium structures, governance models, and decision‑making processes • Knowledge of wet plant, submarine line terminal equipment (SLTE), and transponder architectures • Strong consultative leadership skills with the ability to influence global stakeholder organizations • MBA and/or advanced technical degree • Experience with software and professional services sales • Willingness to travel up to 50% for customer and business needs PS : PS: As part of our growth plan for the year, we’ve begun building a pipeline of suitable candidates while we await confirmation of the hiring budget for H2.
