We trust our Canvanauts to choose the balance that empowers them and their team to achieve their goals. What you'd be doing in this role As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve. At the moment, this role is focused on: Partnering with product, engineering, and machine learning teams to embed localisation quality signals earlier in the development cycle Establishing and maintaining documentation on localisation AI tooling, prompt libraries, and evaluation methodologies Leading the refinement of our AI translation pipeline, driving optimisation through prompt engineering and rigorous evaluation processes while determining the optimal balance between AI automation and human translation workflows. Contributing to the overall localisation strategy by surfacing data-driven insights from evaluations and automation systems Establishing processes with country teams to propagate learnings across all regions and optimise operations Creating and iterating on team strategy, clearly communicating how that strategy rolls up into larger organisational goals and responding quickly to shifts in priorities and timelines Building trust and collaborative culture with country teams and product teams within Canva and shape prioritisation You're probably a match if You have deep expertise in localisation frameworks and technologies; bonus marks for Smartling experience and LLM evals You have a builder's mindset, meaning you're comfortable vibe coding scripts and generally just having a go at new things You love taking things from chaos to clarity and you have the drive to see things through despite changes and setbacks You understand how user experience impacts growth and you can connect the user journey to opportunities turning localisation initiatives into measurable signals You understand the needs of LOTE customers and the opportunities available to meet those needs, ideally from experience working in a localisation/internationalisation environment within a SaaS company You can document complex systems simply and clearly for broader audiences Speaking multiple languages is a huge bonus About the team The Localisation group is responsible for the localisation of Canva’s product, marketing, and content as well as the tools, processes, and assets that make this mission possible. We sit within the Global Content and Discovery supergroup but we work closely with stakeholders across the whole organisation — from customer support and sales through to our AI features and the core editing product. Localisation is made up of localisation specialists, designers, and language managers (native speaker language experts) who work across the business to achieve our mission of equipping all Canvanauts with the best practices, insights and processes they need to go global. Every month, more than 100 million Canva users create a design in one of the 100 languages other than English that Canva supports. The localisation specialty is made up of three  teams of linguists, project managers, and designers distributed throughout the company with a mission of celebrating the diversity of our growing base of global users and making their Canva experiences delightful.  This is a senior specialist role within the Localisation Group where you will be partnering with country teams, product teams, ...
