About the Role/Specialty As a Senior People Partner, you’ll operate as a trusted advisor to leaders across our CJKI teams in Beijing. You’ll balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution — supporting leaders through growth, change, and team development while ensuring operational excellence across the employee lifecycle. You’ll bring conceptual and practical expertise in People Partnering, applying sound judgement to complex situations and influencing across stakeholders with minimal guidance. This role requires a strong understanding of China’s employment landscape, cultural context, and compliance frameworks, alongside the ability to align with Canva’s global People strategy. You won’t just support the business — you’ll help shape it.   What you’ll do (responsibilities) Define clear people strategies and initiatives that align with global people strategy pillars and local business dynamics Lead and facilitate organisational design, workforce planning, and change initiatives Partner closely with leaders to drive team performance, engagement, and organizational health. Actively navigate complexity with proper solution Coach and advise leaders on performance management, employee relations, talent development, and team effectiveness Contribute and champion global people program design and implementation with local adoption, ensure local nuances are embeded Ensure compliance with Chinese employment laws and local regulatory requirements while aligning to Canva’s global People practices Develop country specific policies and guidelines in the context of Global framework Analyse people data and trends to provide actionable insights that support strategic decision-making Support employee full lifecycle processes from onboarding, engagement, development, performance cycles, compensation reviews, and offboarding Lead/own regional CJKI People projects with broader partnership across diverse people functions What we're looking for We’re looking for a People Partner who combines strategic thinking with practical execution. You’re comfortable navigating ambiguity, influencing senior stakeholders, and balancing business priorities with employee experience. You’re someone who thrives in collaborative environments, values inclusion, and is motivated by building teams that achieve meaningful impact. 8 years+ experience in HR function, with 5 years+ experience as HRBP Sound business acumen and proven experience in partnering with leaders in a fast-paced, scaling organization Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across cultures Experience with organizational design, workforce planning, and change management Demonstrated ability to coach leaders through performance and employee relations matters Strong analytical skills with experience leveraging people data to drive insights knowledge of Chinese employment law and local compliance requirements Full fluency in English,able to interact in both oral English and written English, proficiency in English document writing is preferred
