The Opportunity The role is to integrate into the hardware development teams to provide power and interconnect vision and support. This involves working in a team to design, implement and validate leading edge optical and electrical interconnect and power HW solutions in Ciena’s Converged Packet Optical products. • Define electrical and optical interconnect solutions and validate the electrical/mechanical /optical properties and performance. • Work as a member of a multi-functional team to recommend appropriate interconnect solutions and provide implementation guidelines. •You will participate in designing AC and DC power interface modules and cooling systems for platforms. • Evaluate Interconnect solutions in the areas of electrical (connectors, cables and backplanes) and optical (connectors, adaptors, patchcords) interconnect for their suitability in new hardware designs. • Perform application verification testing on power design and interconnect solutions. • Perform high-speed signal integrity testing of backplanes and cables. • Interface with suppliers to solicit electrical power and electrical/optical interconnect solutions for system requirements. • Submit eCAD coding requests and checking for power and interconnect components. Qualifications • Currently enrolled in Undergraduate or in Graduate program in Electrical Engineering, preferably with prior co-op experience in related fields. • Experience with lab test equipment and measurement techniques. • Good communication, enthusiastic, interpersonal, and teamwork skills are essential. Assets • Understanding of high speed signaling, transmission lines, digital design, analog design, and power electronics is an asset. • Experience with PCB schematic capture and layout tools is an asset. • Familiarity with communication protocols (OTN, Ethernet, SONET, Fiber Channel). Pay Range: The hourly pay for this position is $25.00 - $34.00 Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.
