Skylo’s direct-to-device service is now live on millions of activated devices across five continents, with more than 60 million square kilometers of coverage, in partnership with multiple satellite operators, mobile network operators (MNOs), Tier-1 chipset makers, and OEMs. Devices connected over satellite are managed and served by Skylo's commercial NTN vRAN, featuring a 3GPP standards-based cloud-native base station and core. Our focus is on enabling connected services for people outdoors and connected workflows across three main verticals: mass-market consumer devices, automotive, and industrial IoT. This role is located Mountain View, CA where we are onsite 3 days a week in office. Summary Of How You Will Impact Skylo Skylo is hiring a Senior Cloud Networking Engineer to design, implement, and optimize networking solutions across our cloud environments. You will be responsible for ensuring secure, scalable, and high-performing network connectivity for our global systems. This role will partner closely with cloud, DevOps, and security teams to deliver reliable cloud networking architectures that meet the needs of a growing, mission-critical platform. How You Will Contribute Cloud Networking Design Implementation Architect and maintain networking solutions in AWS and GCP including VPCs, subnets, routing, peering, and hybrid connectivity. Design and configure load balancing, API gateways, private service access, and service meshes for modern application environments. Implement and manage cloud-based firewalls, NAT, VPNs, and SD-WAN solutions. Optimize network performance, latency, and availability for distributed systems. Security Compliance Enforce network security best practices, including zero-trust principles, segmentation, and encryption in transit. Partner with the security team to monitor for vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, and potential threats. Support compliance requirements (SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, GDPR, etc.) through secure network design. Operations Troubleshooting Lead advanced troubleshooting of network connectivity, latency, and throughput issues. Build automation scripts and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Pulumi, etc.) for network provisioning. Maintain observability and monitoring tools to ensure health and reliability of network services. Provide on-call support for critical infrastructure networking issues. Collaboration Strategy Work closely with Cloud Architect, cloud infrastructure, and application teams to ensure networking aligns with business requirements. Contribute to long-term cloud networking strategy, including multi-cloud and hybrid connectivity. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to documentation, standards, and best practices. What We Look For 7+ years of experience in network engineering, with at least 3+ years in cloud networking. Deep knowledge of AWS VPC networking, GCP VPC VPC-SC, or Azure Virtual Networks. Strong background in routing, BGP, DNS, firewalls, and load balancing in cloud and hybrid environments. Experience with Kubernetes networking (CNI, service mesh, ingress/egress). Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation). Familiarity with security tools, monitoring, and observability (Datadog, Prometheus, ELK, etc.). Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Certifications: AWS Advanced Networking Specialty, GCP Professional Cloud Network Engineer, CCNP/CCIE, or equivalent.
