About this role About this role: BlackRock Global Markets and Index Investments (BGM) brings together BlackRock’s index equity, index fixed income, global trading, securities lending, cash management, ETF markets, and financing and financial resource management businesses to deliver investment, trading, financing and risk management excellence for clients every minute of every day. Within BGM, Securities Lending is building a tech-enabled platform to support tool-building, automation and workflow innovation across the function. Our goal is to enhance business processes for Sec Lending through task execution and automation, with an initial focus on client-facing, data analytics and reporting related deliverables. We will do this by leveraging existing citizen developer tools and the entire Aladdin toolkit. Your role and impact We are seeking an enthusiastic and quantitively minded software developer to be the founding member of the Securities Lending Business Enable Center. As the Lead Python Engineer, you’ll be a key architect and cultural steward, defining shared design principles, elevating development standards, and shaping how we scale. You’ll not only build technology but also help Sec Lending gain value and increase productivity by building out a business solutions team. Although predominantly a Python role, demonstrable experience across multiple technologies is a plus, focusing on the best tool for the job! Key responsibilities Understand the business to plan, scope and build technology projects with a forward-looking approach to software, improving efficiency and enabling business growth Partner with teams across Securities Lending to take proof of concepts to products and solutions, ensuring production quality design and deployment Work with the business’s Data & Analytics team (IDA) to build out the Future of Data Reporting platform, focusing on automating workflows and driving alignment with broader BLK teams Build out the team in Gurgaon by hiring and onboarding future team members Create alignment and help to foster the growth of citizen developers across SL, in partnership with IDA.Stay up to date with the latest technology improvements within BlackRock, finance and the wider technology industry to ensure quality of work remains high and the technology being built is cutting edge. Skills & Qualifications 7 years’ experience as a self-sufficient software developer. Strong knowledge of Python, SQL & PowerBI is a must, TypeScript/UI knowledge is a plus. Experience with leading engineering teams, team building experience is a plus Experience in any of the following technologies would be beneficial: Snowflake, Streamlit, Angular/React, Azure, data engineering Understanding of agile project management frameworks Flexibility and willingness to accepting new challenges; ability to work effectively and efficiently on multiple projects at a time Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills Ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical stakeholders is a plus!
