About the role The Insurance Verification Specialist will be responsible for managing initial benefit/eligibility verifications for Equip patients during the admissions process as well as changes of insurance during a patient’s treatment. The Insurance Verification Specialist will act as a liaison between insurance companies and Equip’s Admissions, Utilization Management, and Finance teams and ensure accurate treatment information is communicated to both payors and internal stakeholders. Responsibilities - Develop collaborative relationships with insurance companies/payors to verify benefits and eligibility. - Enter and update patient demographics, guarantor, and insurance information in company systems. - Respond to inquiries from insurance companies and internal team members. - Work collaboratively with the RCM, finance, accounting departments, admissions, and utilization management departments. - Maintain confidentiality of patient and business information. - Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications - 3+ years of healthcare experience with billing, insurance verification, or utilization management required. - Knowledge and experience with EMR and billing software programs required. - Strong professional communication and interpersonal skills. - Familiarity with HIPAA privacy requirements for patient information. Ability to maintain and protect confidential information. - Demonstrated ability to consistently follow processes and procedures. - Strong attention to detail. - Excellent organizational awareness, adaptability, and conflict management skills. - Comfortable working in a fast-paced, startup environment and navigating ambiguity. - A passion for living Equip’s mission and values. Physical Demands Work is performed 100% from home with no requirement to travel. This is a stationary position that requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards as well as to talk or hear by telephone. Sit or stand as needed.
