Overview Tonal is looking for a 2026 Summer Intern who is currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program at a 4-year university and is interested in Software Engineering. You’ll be working in a fast-paced environment within the software team at Tonal. With the upcoming developments on our product roadmap. You’ll assist key stakeholders and provide support in these areas. You’ll bring a fresh perspective of academic knowledge and familiarity with emerging trends, helping to find innovative solutions while challenging existing methodologies. This is a 12-week internship position based in Toronto, Ontario. What You’ll Do - Contribute to the execution of Tonal’s FY26 product roadmap through engineering and quality initiatives - Explore, prototype, and build automation solutions using modern AI-assisted development tools to improve test coverage and developer productivity - Collaborate with engineers and product teams to understand features and identify opportunities for automation - Leverage AI to accelerate test creation, validation strategies, and issue triaging across the software development lifecycle - Participate in team meetings, sprint ceremonies, and weekly brainstorming sessions - Prepare reports or presentations and make recommendations to key stakeholders - Communicate and collaborate with team members on a daily basis Who You Are - Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree (rising junior or senior), major in Engineering or related field - Comfortable writing code in at least one programming language - Highly resourceful and proactive in using AI tools (e.g., Codex, Claude Code, or similar) to learn, build, and tackle engineering challenges - Strong problem-solving ability to break down complex problems and iterate quickly - Strong written and verbal communication skills, including email, slack, and presentations - Driven to learn new skills and be adaptable in a corporate environment - Passionate about health, fitness, or consumer hardware - Thrives in a fast paced environment At Tonal, we believe that the unique and varied lived experiences of our teammates contribute to our overall strength.
