ABOUT THE ROLE: You’ll help design and ship a new generation of consumer products across X and Grok, spanning social platforms, AI-powered interfaces, and entirely new interaction paradigms. You’ll work closely with engineering, research, and product to turn complex systems into simple, elegant experiences used by millions. This role is for designers who are excited by a shift in how products are built, where AI tools are part of the design and prototyping process, not just the product itself. RESPONSIBILITIES: Designing end-to-end product experiences across social and AI-driven products Deeply understanding user needs, behaviors, and emerging use cases Rapidly exploring, prototyping, and iterating using both traditional and AI-assisted design tools Partnering closely with engineering to ship high-quality, polished experiences Using qualitative research, product data, and intuition to guide decisions Contributing to shared design systems and product standards BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Have shipped meaningful consumer product features on web and/or mobile Are comfortable working in fast-moving, ambiguous environments Embrace new design and engineering workflows, including AI-assisted tooling Care deeply about craft, clarity, and user experience Communicate clearly and collaborate well across disciplines Have an interest in language models, social systems, or both PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Strong portfolio demonstrating product thinking and execution Experience designing consumer-facing products at scale Familiarity with modern design and prototyping tools Experience working closely with engineers and product partners COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: $180,000 – $400,000 USD Base salary is just one part of our total rewards package at xAI, which also includes equity, comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, access to a 401(k) retirement plan, short long-term disability insurance, life insurance, and various other discounts and perks. xAI is an equal opportunity employer.
