A Day in the Life
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Installs, maintains, and repairs electrical and mechanical infrastructure in facilities.
Installs, operates, monitors and maintains utilities, including HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) setup, maintenance and balancing, WFI (water for injection), purified water and process equipment.
Maintains, troubleshoots and repairs facilities mechanical components and electrical equipment and systems in accordance with SOPs (standard operating procedures), internal requirements, manufacturer's specifications and safety policies.
Develops, maintains and secures a spare parts inventory of basic maintenance hand and power tools.
Recommends purchase of maintenance tools, equipment and supplies as required to streamline processes and increase efficiency.
Assists engineers in developing methods and procedures to control or improve facilities processes.
TECHNICIAN SUPPORT CAREER STREAM: Provides technical support in areas such as production, operations, maintenance, safety, testing, process improvement or product development. Uses schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions or defined plans to perform testing and troubleshooting on electronic or mechanical components, equipment or systems. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data using established formulae and procedures, and performs detailed mathematical calculations. For higher levels, may suggest and/or make improvements to optimize work processes.

Autonomy: Seasoned individual contributor, working under limited supervision, and providing assistance and training to lower level employees.
Runs minor projects, including performing tests, interpreting data, developing reports.
Organizational Impact: Performs technical activities requiring considerable judgment and may have ownership of minor projects.
Work consists of technical tasks that are typically not routine.
Innovation and Complexity: Technical problems faced are general, and may require some analysis to understand and resolve.
Expected to independently propose solutions to problems for supervisor review.
Communication and Influence: Communicates typically with internal contacts.
Obtains and provides technical information on matters of moderate importance to the job area.
Leadership and Talent Management: Responsible for providing guidance, coaching and training to other employees within job area.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
Certified as an Electromechanical Technician, Mechanic, or Electrician.
10 years of experience in facility and building maintenance.
Experience in the maintenance of HVAC systems (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), compressed air systems, process water systems, and chilled water systems—including troubleshooting, operation, and maintenance.
Experience using computer tools, power tools, and measurement systems for diagnosing equipment faults.
Industrial electrical systems,
Mechanical systems,
Industrial water systems and utility systems,
Preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance of equipment and infrastructure,
Interpretation of electrical schematics,
Use of instrumentation and diagnostic tools,
Use of computer systems and basic desktop software.
Knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and compliance with safety regulations (LOTO, electrical safety, working at heights, etc.).
Operation of electrical monitoring systems and Building Management Systems (BMS).
