A Day in The Life Of:
In general, the following responsibilities apply for the Senior Software Engineer role. This includes, but is not limited to the following:
Design, develop, and test software for class I, II and III medical devices per software standards, e.g. IEC62304.
Design, build, and maintain automation tools and infrastructure to support frequent execution of testing activities for medical device software applications.
Design, build, execute, and maintain automated verification tests to ensure performance of medical device applications to requirements.
Plan projects, manage scope, and estimate work in collaboration with product engineers, technology architects, software design engineers, and software test engineers.
Provide hands-on leadership, coaching, mentoring, and software engineering best practices to junior software engineers.
Conduct and/or participate in technical reviews of requirements, specifications, designs, code and other engineering artifacts, ensuring timely delivery to meet program commitments.
Participate in process improvement initiatives for the software verification team. This includes recognizing areas for improvement as well as working with others to develop and document process improvements.
Develop reusable patterns and encourage innovation that will increase team velocity.
Work collaboratively across functions and with internal and external partners to deliver high quality products to the marketplace.
Key Skills & Experience
Minimum NFQ level 8 bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.
Minimum of 4 years of relevant technical experience, or advanced degree with 2 years of technical experience.
Passion for creating high quality software and documentation
Strong Leadership and mentoring skills
Strong problem-solving skills
Proficiency working in a team environment
Strong oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated experience in software testing and test automation, including the design or implementation of test automation frameworks
Demonstrated ability to enhance processes and technology in support of frequent test automation and quality improvement
Experience with Agile methodologies and Test-Driven Development
Proficiency in two or more of the following technologies: XML, C, Java, JavaScript, HTML, C#, .NET, Python
