Senior Maintenance & Facilities Technician – Mechanical and Electrical All‑Rounder

A Day in the Life The Medtronic site located in Kerkrade, the Netherlands, is positioned close to the EMEA Distribution Centre as well as the Bakken Research Centre. The site is being transformed into a high-performance, data-driven, and connected manufacturing environment, supporting cleanroom operations and critical medical device production. We are looking for a Senior Maintenance & Facilities Technician – Mechanical and Electrical All-Rounder who will bring hands-on technical expertise, a pragmatic mindset, and a solution-oriented approach. This senior-level role focuses on mechanical and electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant operations on the shop floor. This role complements the coordination-focused technician role and emphasizes technical depth, versatility, and reliable execution. The successful candidate will work across mechanical, electrical, and basic control systems, maintaining production uptime and supporting cleanroom operations. Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned: Perform mechanical and electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on manufacturing and facility equipment Diagnose and resolve equipment failures involving motors, drives, sensors, pneumatics, and basic control systems Execute preventive and corrective maintenance in cleanroom and facility environments Support calibration activities and functional testing of equipment Identify recurring equipment issues and implement practical, durable improvement Support installation, modification, and improvement of manufacturing equipment Execute all work safely and in compliance with EHS, machine safety, and cleanroom requirements Collaborate closely with Engineering, EHS, and Production during breakdowns, improvements, and change initiatives Required Knowledge and Experience: Senior-level experience as a maintenance or equipment technician in a production environment True mechanical and electrical all-rounder, capable of hands-on troubleshooting across multiple disciplines Technical education in maintenance, mechatronics, mechanical, or electrical engineering Experience working in regulated manufacturing environments (medical devices, food, pharma, or high-tech preferred) Comfortable working in cleanroom environments with strict adherence to safety and compliance requirements Strong awareness of machine safety, electrical safety, and LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) principles Hands-on, pragmatic, and solution-oriented, with the ability to diagnose, act decisively, and restore equipment quickly Structured, reliable, and calm under pressure, able to take ownership of breakdowns and gain respect through competence and clear communication Solid proficiency in English (oral and written); Dutch preferred Affinity with automation, IT systems, and digital tools (Office 365) Preferably a Lean Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt Physical Job Requirements The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this position, but they are not an exhaustive list of all the required responsibilities and skills of this position.
