Job Description
Under general direction, the Supervising Pharmacist provides supervision for pharmaceutical services within the San Francisco Department of Public Health to assure quality patient care, appropriate drug therapy and compliance with all applicable regulations. The essential functions include:
Manages, supervises, and schedules assigned personnel, including completing performance appraisals, and carrying out appropriate disciplinary actions as needed. Designs, implements, and evaluates pharmaceutical services. Continuously interprets and assists in the development and implementation of departmental rules, regulations, and policies. Communicates with physicians, nurses, and other health-care professionals, as well as the general public. Prepares and maintains reports, memoranda, and records. Assists in managerial decisions including developing the budget. Develops and trains staff to support and enhance professional development. Performs professional pharmacist duties as needed. Procures pharmaceuticals and supplies and maintains inventory.

Minimum Qualifications - Required
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Requires at least two (2) years (equivalent to 4,000 hours) of experience as a licensed pharmacist in a hospital pharmacy; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
AND
LICENSE:
Requires possession of a valid Registered Pharmacist license issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy (Please attach a copy)
License status must be "Current" according to https://search.dca.ca.gov/
SPECIAL CONDITIONS:  The following minimum qualifications reflect special conditions associated with some position(s) to be filled. They may differ from the standard minimum qualifications associated with this classification.
One (1) year of recent and verifiable inpatient pharmacy experience obtained within the last five years.
Applicants must meet the minimum qualification requirement by the final filing date unless otherwise noted. One year of full-time employment is equivalent to 2,000 hours (2,000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40-hour work week).
