Business Insider is hiring a motion design fellow to work on videos and create animations for the video team.

The Business Insider Fellowship Program is for early career journalists who want to spend six months learning from a newsroom full of passionate, dedicated journalists. Fellows are assigned to teams and become experts in digital storytelling. They produce real work that is distributed to our audience of millions, and by the end of six months, they are prepared for the next phase of their journalism careers. This paid role requires you to work for 40 hours a week. Fellows are required to come into our New York office three times per week.
The Role Team:
The fellow in this role will spend their time creating original and creative animations across our shows.
Our videos cover a range of subjects, including food, travel, design, art, beauty, and more. Candidates should be familiar with our existing videos and eager to contribute work in our style. Recent examples include:

The ideal candidate should have thorough knowledge of After Effects and a passion for animation. They will work closely with videographers and producers to create videos for a wide audience across the web and various social media platforms including Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat and Reels.
This role reports directly to Senior Managing Producer of Motion Design and sits on the larger video team. Applications will close on April 17th.
Key Responsibilities:
Work both collaboratively and independently to develop explainer animations that translate complex ideas, such as history and economics, into clear, engaging visuals
Work closely with producers to interpret scripts and turn them into visually compelling storyboards
Create visual assets including graphs, maps, text elements, motion graphics templates, and backgrounds
The ideal candidate has:
A passion for visual storytelling through animations
A strong eye for design, including a solid understanding of color theory, composition, and an interest in collage or mixed-media visual styles
Strong skills in Photoshop and After Effects. Proficiency in Illustrator and Premiere is a plus
Proofreading and copywriting skills
Additionally, all of our editorial fellows should have:
A passion for digital storytelling and voracious reading habits
Familiarity with digital and social media
The ability to work quickly and collaboratively with a fast-paced team
A love of Business Insider and our mission to serve readers with the information and inspiration they need in a way that’s accurate, fair, fast, and fun
Salary Benefits:
Fellows are paid $23 per hour (overtime when needed and approved)
PTO and paid holidays
Eligible for medical, dental, and vision benefits on 91st day of employment
