Our customers are militaries, government agencies, airports, critical infrastructure, law enforcement and many others. With one of the largest listed defence company market capitalisations in Australia, part of the ASX200 index, and having raised approximately $250m in 2024 alone, DroneShield is undergoing hypergrowth stage, fuelled by rapidly increasing use of drones for nefarious applications, from battlefield, to terrorism, to contraband delivery and commercial espionage. This role is in the DroneShield Sydney headquarters in Sydney CBD. There are approximately 380 staff based in the 4,000sqm facility today, scheduled to grow to approximately 500 staff by end of 2026. Overseas on the ground presence includes Virginia (USA), Netherlands, Denmark, Mexico and Dubai, as well as distributors in over 70 countries globally. About the role The company is seeking a Technical Communications Assistant with relevant experience to join the team in Pyrmont, NSW. The position will report to the Technical Communications Manager on the Product Team. This role involves expressing complex technical concepts in concise, compelling and informative ways to a variety of internal and external audiences. To do that, it requires a deep and broad understanding of the associated technology, landscape and specific solutions. Communication will cover a range of media across written, digital, and face-to-face briefings. Most tasks are centred around gaining and then then providing context and intelligence on the latest developments in key areas across the company and surrounding industry. Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations Generate and maintain a deep understanding of the strategic landscape around UxS and C-UxS technology in both theoretical (emerging) and real-world (deployed) capacities. Analyse both perspectives to understand and communicate the current capabilities and predicted trajectory. Pair this with an ingrained knowledge of DroneShield products, adjacent capabilities and global market of each technology Develop and maintain a live competitive intelligence database across peer and adjacent technologies, products and competitors in the C-UAS and broader defence sensor ecosystem Compose clear and compelling messaging that translates in both directions between complex technical features and customer-facing benefits, differentiators, and value propositions Regularly communicate with stakeholders across business and technical domains to inform product direction and messaging with up-to-date market intelligence Create engaging materials (reports, presentations) which concisely communicate technical and nuanced details. Partner with tech writers and graphic designers to develop polished outputs when needed Write and oversee the creation of whitepapers, case studies and analytical reports. Work with marketing team to curate commercial posture and messaging for a wide range of products and projects to different market sectors. Develop a strongly technical understanding of specialty products and technologies to ensure that communications are informative and accessible View and present this information in the context of company-wide strategy, and a rapidly shifting industrial landscape Research and synthesise technical data from a range of internal & external sources to present in actionable summaries.
