Job Description
The San Francisco Police Department is seeking Retired Peace Officers with valid POST certification and Reserve Level-I Peace Officers to join a highly respected police department that serves a diverse community in one of the most beautiful cities in the country as a Special Events Officer.  San Francisco Special Event Police Officers perform a wide variety of duties to promote public safety and security in and around the various event centers, city-wide events and other city venues.  
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS  (please note that the following eligibility requirements will be verified during Background Investigation)
Education:  Applicants must be a United States High School Graduate or have passed a G.E.D. or the California High School Proficiency Examination, or have an AA or higher degree from a United States accredited college or university. ( Government Code 1031(e) ) Driver’s License: Applicants must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license to operate an automobile at the time of application and throughout the selection process. Possession of a valid California Driver License is required prior to the date of hire. Must have passed a patrol-based Field Training Program with home agency as required by POST Must be at least 21years of age for specified peace officers (GC 1031.4)
Judicial Record: Applicants must NOT have been: Convicted of a felony. Convicted of an offense involving domestic violence. Convicted of any misdemeanor that carries a penalty of prohibiting ownership, possession or control or a firearm; or Restricted from employment with the City and County of San Francisco.
Retired with at least two (2) years’ experience as a Peace Officer with a California Law Enforcement Agency and possession of at least a valid Basic Certificate issued by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training;
OR
Currently working or having at least two years’ experience as a Level-I Reserve Peace Officer with a California Law Enforcement Agency with a valid California POST (Basic, Intermediate, or Advanced) Certificate or Basic Course Waiver (BCW).
PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must meet and maintain required peace officer employment standards as required by POST. Retirees who were medically retired (industrial or non-industrial) should confirm with their retirement plan that accepting employment as an “as-needed” San Francisco Special Events Officer will not jeopardize their pension. Must possess the strength and physical ability necessary to perform the essential functions of the position. Must possess hearing, speech and mental capabilities sufficient to perform all of the essential functions of the position. Must be willing to be fingerprinted, pass a departmental interview, psychological, medical, and background investigation prior to appointment.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Will be required to work special events Will be required to work odd and unusual hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
Will be required to provide safety equipment (defined as ballistic vest, duty belt and related equipment).  Firearm will be provided by San Francisco Police Dept.
Verification of Education and Experience: POST Certificates or Basic Course Waiver must be submitted with your application.  Copies of certificates can be uploaded to your application.
