Job Description
Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.
Anduril’s Electrical Engineering Team is seeking a Wireless Systems Principal Engineer with a strong background in modulation/demodulation, forward error correction, multiple access, duplexing schemes used in wireless communications. In this role, you design, adapt, and optimize wireless communication waveforms for use by autonomous vehicles to communicate with each other and with human operators. Familiarity with tradeoffs concerning performance, resiliency and range is necessary. You will also work with embedded SW and FPGA engineers to optimize capability while maintaining the big picture mission and system view with an eye to both verification and validation of the end system. Additionally, you will guide the SW and FW engineers to develop SW/FW/HW to integrate wireless systems with autonomous vehicles and their controllers. The preferred person for this role has a strong background in the effects of signal processing, communication systems architectures upon the users that rely upon them. Additionally, experience in providing technical approach to System Engineers, FPGA and SW engineers, and schedule status including work estimates and staff resource estimates to program management is preferred. Substantial experience in the use of Matlab for waveform, network, and traffic design and simulation is highly preferred.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Guide embedded SW engineers and FPGA engineers in trade studies, implementation and optimization of waveforms to the autonomous applications.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of systems, software, firmware and hardware engineers to support integration activities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Strong, demonstrated leadership of DSP engineers in the comms sector to include technical and programmatic leadership aspects - demonstrated ability to understand simple and innovative algorithms and work with program management, software and firmware groups to deliver compelling capabilities
Familiarity with design of Modulation, Demodulation, Error Correction Schemes, Symmetric and Asymmetric Encryption and their affects on systems that use them.
Familiarity with CSMA, CDMA, TDMA, FDMA, FDM, TDM, DAMA and similar communications protocols and their affect on throughput, system capacity, jitter, latency, and link integrity
Familiarity with DSSS, FHSS, Chirp Spread Spectrum, OFDM, PSK, FSK, and similar modulation systems and their affects on links that use them.
Experience with deceiver design parameters including: AGC, Frequency and Phase correction, DC and I/Q offset compensation, equalization, ACI and CCI mitigation
Familiarity with MATLAB and/or Simulink.
Experience with embedded devices for DSP, including FPGA, GPU, ASIC, and/or Software Defined Radios and the tradeoffs between which is best for what circumstances.
Demonstrated algorithm design and implementation
Ability to analyze and simulate algorithm performance and present findings to audience without deep technical knowledge of subject
Familiar with commercial and/or military wireless and satellite communication standards
Enthusiastic about both working with a team and executing DSP work individually
Some travel required especially for review prep, reviews and integration activities, roughly 25% on average
