A Day in the Life Un Sr. Veterinario en Medtronic desempeña un rol clave dando soporte técnico y estratégico a Manufactura, asegurando el bienestar animal, el cumplimiento regulatorio y el uso óptimo de tejido animal en la fabricación de dispositivos médicos. Durante un día típico, el rol incluye la revisión de la condición y calidad del tejido animal para optimizar su uso en manufactura, reducir variabilidad y asegurar su desempeño dentro del producto final. Trabaja en colaboración directa con ingenieros de manufactura y calidad, apoyando con propuestas técnicas, pruebas y planes de mejora continua orientados a mejorar el desempeño del producto. El Sr. Veterinario actúa como partner técnico interno para el desarrollo de estrategias relacionadas con el manejo y uso del tejido animal, y como enlace con proveedores de tejido, rastros y granjas, impulsando mejoras de proceso y del material, siempre alineadas a los estándares éticos, regulatorios y de calidad de Medtronic. Adicionalmente, brinda soporte a modelos animales y actividades preclínicas, participa en auditorías y cumplimiento con regulaciones locales e internacionales, y ofrece mentoría y guía técnica a otros profesionales. Plans, executes, and follows up on technical, clinical, and/or field research projects in toxicity, clinical pathology, and animal nutrition to produce meaningful information relating to safety and efficacy leading to Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval. Conducts research projects involving different drug combinations, either independently or with others. Responsible for veterinarian issues such as: clinical diagnosis, disease outbreaks, all species, animal surgery, and animal models. Develops, implements, and controls procedures related to acquisition, maintenance, quarantine, and disposition of all research animals. Coordinates with, provides technical support, and acts as liaison on animal health matters. Continually improving the welfare of animals by complying with the Institution Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC). Participates in the designing of new facilities and improvement of facilities. TECHNICAL SPECIALIST CAREER STREAM:  An individual contributor with responsibility in our technical functions to advance existing technology or introduce new technology and therapies. Formulates, delivers and/or manages projects assigned and works with other stakeholders to achieve desired results. May act as a mentor to colleagues or may direct the work of other lower level professionals. The majority of time is spent delivering R&D, systems or initiatives related to new technologies or therapies – from design to implementation - while adhering to policies, using specialized knowledge and skills.
