Sr Director Operations

As the Senior Director of Operations, you will provide strategic leadership and direction for the organization’s operational functions, including planning, production, and customer service. This senior-level role involves developing and executing long-term strategies to drive operational excellence, cost efficiency, and customer satisfaction. You will lead cross-functional teams to ensure consistent, scalable, and compliant operations processes and standards. The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation, it is a leading prime manned and unmanned aircraft systems integrator for innovative, high-performance ISR and aviation systems. Its end-to-end Command, Control, Computers, Communications and Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (C4ISR) capabilities encompass design, integration, test, certification, ground/flight training and complete logistics support. IAS tailors solutions to customer cost, performance, and schedule requirements and designs to consistently exceed expectations – with an unrivaled record of on time and on (or under) budget deliveries. Responsibilities: Develop and execute long-term strategic plans to achieve operational excellence. Lead and oversee initiatives to improve planning, production, customer service, and logistics operations. Ensure compliance with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) regulations and standards. Drive advanced continuous process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. Develop and maintain scalable and consistent operations processes, procedures, and standards. Mentor and develop senior operations leaders and managers. Conduct comprehensive operations reviews to assess performance against strategic objectives. Manage and optimize operational budgets to achieve financial goals. Provide executive-level guidance to the Program Management Office on production operations-related issues. Align operations strategies with the company’s mission, vision, and growth objectives. Qualifications You Must Have: Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Supply Chain or a related field of study. 15 years of relevant experience, with at least 8 years in a leadership role. Relevant experience can be considered as a substitute for the required educational qualifications. In the absence of a degree, a minimum of 19 years of related experience is required. Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience. Expert knowledge of manufacturing, production, and logistics processes. Proven experience in leading large-scale continuous process improvement initiatives. Experience leading and coordinating large, multi-location operations. Advanced knowledge of production/manufacturing principles, techniques, and warehousing best practices. Experience with materials management systems. Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret complex technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals and/or publications. Excellent customer-facing experience. Proven leadership abilities inclusive of successful change management, mentoring, career development, training, succession planning, holding people accountable, and conducting yearly reviews. Proven experience and skills in team building, time management, conflict resolution, communication, briefing, presentation, and strategic thinking. Strong communication skills, including the ability to clearly express concepts in verbal and written forms. Qualifications We Prefer: Master’s degree in a related field. Extensive experience in the aerospace and defense industry. Professional certification such as Certified Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. Advanced proficiency in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and data analysis tools. Ability to navigate change and uncertainty, make defensible decisions in ambiguity and own those decisions.
