Our product Graphite is modern code review for fast-moving teams - we help engineers write better pull requests, review and leave more actionable feedback on code changes, stay unblocked, and ship faster using automations, AI, and other workflow augmentations. We started Graphite because we missed internal code review tools like Phabricator (at Facebook) and Critique (Google) that help engineers create, approve, and ship incremental changes. About the role Graphite is growing rapidly, we're looking for a staff product designer to help us define and execute on our product vision, bring innovative and impactful features to our users, and evolve our design system. Responsibilities: What you’ll do - Collaborate with product managers to define the the strategic product vision - Help build out and evolve the design philosophies, processes, and culture at Graphite - Explore innovative UX and UI patterns - Solve complex technical challenges with creative problem solving - Execute on 0-1 feature releases and large product updates - Help identify new business and product opportunities through a strong understanding of our capabilities, user needs, and the competitive landscape Requirements: What we’re looking for - 7+ years of experience designing digital products - Full stack design skills (UX, design systems, UI, prototyping) - Very strong sense for visual design for UI (eg. layouts, components, design systems, polish, etc) - Ability to translate ambiguous user needs to concrete requirements and turn them into comprehensive design specs - Proven product design experience with concrete examples of iterative approaches to complex problems - Experience creating scalable and responsive patterns - Experience creating or maintaining design systems - Mastery of contemporary design and prototyping tools and best practices - Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills Nice to haves - Experience designing for SaaS, enterprise, devtools, or productivity tools - Self-sufficient & ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment - Experience with zero-to-one projects or experience as a founding designer - Interest in or experience working on developer tools and workflows - A good understanding of web front-end (i.e. HTML/CSS, React) - User experience research experience (eg. user interviews, user testing, etc) - Branding, art direction, graphic design, marketing design, or motion design experience Life at Graphite - Competitive comp: ($200-240k base + substantial equity).
