About the Role Fivetran is looking for an experienced engineer to join our core application platform team within the Platform Engineering group. In the next few years, you will focus on contributing to our vision and drive our 10x growth to 25,000+ customers. As a member of the Platform team, you will design, implement, and maintain the central parts of Fivetran core that are needed to operate the best-in-class, reliable, secure, and scalable data movement platform. You will prioritize quality, efficiency, and reliability of the team's responsibility areas while collaborating effectively with your peers and the rest of the engineering organization. You will use various AI tools to supercharge your productivity. Fivetran platform spans across our core data pipeline processing framework, cloud architecture and infrastructure, internal development systems, security framework, standard components, quality engineering tools, and developer systems and experience. By combining those pillars into a massively scalable platform, we are able to manage data streaming and batch workloads for the three main public clouds: AWS, Azure, and GCP. Technologies You’ll Use AI tools Java17, JUnit5 Docker, Kubernetes Temporal AWS, GCP, Azure SQL, BigQuery Bazel, BuildKite What You’ll Do Design, Develop, and Debug: Lead the design, development, and debugging of software for distributed systems, ensuring robust, performant and scalable solutions. Lead Projects: Manage and lead high-impact initiatives, coordinating with different stakeholders to ensure timely and quality delivery in an iterative development environment. Mentor and Collaborate: Serve as a leading contributor, both individually and as a team member, offering direction and mentorship to other engineers. Assure Quality: Maintain high standards for code quality, performance, and reliability, conducting thorough testing and reviews. Innovate and Improve: Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends, advocating for the adoption of new tools and methodologies to improve the development process. Skills We’re Looking For 10+ years of experience in the software industry with a passion for solving complex software engineering problems. Solid software engineering foundation - experience designing and developing reusable libraries and experimentation platforms for backend and frontend from scratch leveraging industry best practices. Strong expertise in OOP, preferably in Java. Hands-on experience with any cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization tools like Docker and K8s. Experience with continuous integration tools like Buildkite and CircleCI. Knowledge of observability tools like Grafana, New Relic, Splunk, DataDog is a plus. Knowledge of AI coding assistants such as Codex and Claude Code. Strong written and verbal English skills to support complex analysis. Bonus Skills​ Performance engineering background - experience analyzing, troubleshooting and automating performance workloads on large-scale systems.
