Job Description: A Medical Assistant Apprentice is responsible for learning the Medical Assistant trade at Intermountain Healthcare while attending a Medical Assistant Program. Shift Details : 36 hours/week, Full Time. This position will require in-person classroom training as well as working in various clinics for the clinical rotations portion of the program. Please check your email often for communications about your application. Medical Assistant Apprentice Program Details and FAQ's: This Medical Assistant Program is 21 weeks long. After the program is completed, we will assist you in finding permanent placement as a Medical Assistant within one of our Intermountain Clinics. You will be required to sign a 2-year agreement if you are selected for this position . If you leave the program or prior to the 2-year mark, you will be required to pay back the cost of the program, which is $4,900.00 This is a Full-Time position, 36 hours per week. Typically, the hours will be Monday- Friday 8:00am-5:00pm. Your schedule may vary depending on the clinics you rotate to for your clinical hours. *Schedule may also include some shifts in the Instacare clinics during the evenings and/or weekends. Selected Candidates will be in the classroom 2-3 days per week, and in clinicals for 2-3 days per week. Attendance is essential throughout this 21-week program. MA Apprentices are expected to limit time off to no more than 2 consecutive days , with a maximum total of 5 days off during the 21-week program . The program will start on July 6th and end on November 27th. If you have a planned vacation or absence that exceeds these limits, consider applying to a future cohort. The program will begin on July 6th, 2026. The pay is a flat rate and will be $18.22/hour during the Apprentice Program. Once you graduate from the program and are offered a permanent MA position, you will be offered $19.87/hour. This position requires a High School Diploma or GED. Position Details: The Medical Assistant Apprentice is responsible for always having clear lines of communication with their supervising team at IMH.  The MA apprentice will observe patient-oriented procedures under the direction and supervision of Tier II or Tier III Medical Assistant, Practice Manager, clinician, RN, or LVN throughout the different divisions at Intermountain Healthcare.  The MA apprentice will have the opportunity to practice with direct supervision the patient-oriented procedures and will have the opportunity to review with the mentor all areas of skills assessment improvement opportunities. It is anticipated as an Apprentice there may be challenges with implementation of skills learned in the Medical Assistant Program, the Apprentice is expected to provide feedback to their Mentor on areas they may be struggling with so the mentor can work with the Apprentice to provide additional coaching or scenarios that allow for practice of skills.  As a medical assistant apprentice, they will be responsible for a wide variety of clinical and administrative tasks under the direction and guidance of experienced professionals. This allows you to hone your skills under ‘safety net’ conditions so you will be fully prepared to enter the workforce as a competent, skilled professional.
