Job Description: About the Role Opportunity to own business critical components and services, powering  key use cases for Alation’s customers. The role is one of high ownership, large business impact and executing on a future vision that will be loved by the customers. Key Responsibilities Design and implement moderately complex features with minimal supervision Contribute to system design discussions and provide input on architecture decisions Actively use AI coding assistants (e.g. Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to accelerate development — from scaffolding features and writing tests to reviewing code and debugging Leverage AI tools to iterate quickly, reduce boilerplate, and ship production-ready code at higher velocity Evaluate and critically review AI-generated code for correctness, security, and alignment with team standards before merging Debug and troubleshoot issues efficiently, providing well-reasoned solutions Required Qualifications 2 years of professional experience designing, developing, and shipping software products and/or n-tier services Experience in any object-oriented language, preferably Golang, Python or Java Demonstrated experience using AI coding assistants (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar) as a core part of your development workflow — for code generation, test writing, and code review Comfort working in an AI-augmented engineering environment where speed of delivery and quality are both expected to be high Ability to write precise, effective prompts and provide context to AI tools to get useful, production-quality outputs Experience in working with micro-services Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Excellent communication and collaboration skills Ability to learn through collaboration and apply the knowledge to the assigned tasks Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or similar AI Fluency & Productivity (Expected) You are expected to use AI tools daily as a productivity layer — not occasionally Comfortable using AI to generate first drafts of code, tests, documentation, and design proposals Able to decompose tasks and break down problems in ways that make AI assistance effective Understands the limits of AI-generated code — reviews output for correctness, security vulnerabilities, and technical debt Keeps up with evolving AI tooling and adopts new tools that improve team velocity How You Succeed Raise the Bar: Deliver campaigns with exceptional rigor and continuously elevate standards.
