To support this mission, we're looking for an experienced Engineering Manager (EM) to lead our engineers in Professional Services https://www.notion.so/34ef39950a2280c58213d40f8c79a82e?pvs=21 - five specialized pods with around 15 engineers - delivering consulting and custom engineering work for our customers, plus a handful of internal projects. You'll partner with CTO Marek Trunkát https://www.linkedin.com/in/marektrunkat/ and EM Vladimír Zahajský https://www.linkedin.com/in/vladimir-zahajsky/ to shape how engineering scales as the organization grows. WHAT YOU'LL BE WORKING ON: - You'll lead five specialized Pods (~15 engineers) in Apify Professional Services, delivering technical solutions to customers ranging from startups to Fortune 500 companies. - You'll manage direct reports through regular 1on1s, career conversations, and growth plans, and give direct, constructive feedback that helps people grow. - You'll drive hiring - running technical interviews, evaluating candidates, and attracting strong talent to the team. - You'll uphold technical excellence across the pods - setting standards for delivery speed and code quality, and guiding architecture and tooling decisions together with your team leads and senior engineers. - You'll identify gaps and introduce better practices, tools, and methodologies to elevate the team's capabilities. - You'll partner closely with our Technical Consultants, who own customer communication and project scoping, to make sure delivery runs smoothly. - Together with the CTO and fellow Engineering Manager, you'll help define and implement processes across the engineering organization to support its growth. - You'll collaborate across Product, Sales, and Customer Success to keep delivery aligned with customer outcomes. WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR: - You've led an engineering team before and are comfortable owning people management at scale. - You have a solid technical background in Node.js / TypeScript - enough to reasonably evaluate technical decisions and discussions with your team. - You will play a key role in scaling AI integration across our workflows. We’re looking for someone who stays ahead of the curve and can help us identify and implement emerging AI tools to keep our team at the cutting edge - You have a track record of giving feedback that helps people grow, and a natural talent for building collaboration, guiding team members, and achieving results toward shared goals. - You have a passion for learning, continuous improvement, and supporting others. - You have strong English communication skills. Nice to have: - Familiarity with web scraping, browser automation, or data-extraction tooling. - Experience scaling an engineering function through a growth phase. BY THE END OF THE FIRST THREE MONTHS, WE EXPECT YOU TO: - Know your direct reports - their strengths, growth areas, and career goals - and have established a regular 1on1 rhythm. - Understand how each of the 5 pods operates, where the friction points are, and how delivery flows with Technical Consultants and customers. - Have identified the top two or three improvement areas (process, tooling, or team health) and started working on the first one.
