About the role
As a Senior Accountant specializing in project accounting, cost accounting, government contracts, and time-and-material billing, you will be a critical driver of our financial integrity and operational scale across our growing defense and commercial programs. You will own the end-to-end financial management of government and commercial contracts, ensuring accurate cost allocation, compliant billing, and timely reporting. This is a hands-on, detail-oriented role requiring deep expertise in FAR/CAS compliance, TM invoicing, and project-level financial controls — combined with strong NetSuite and Excel skills and a passion for building scalable processes in a fast-paced environment.
At Applied Intuition, you will:
Set up and maintain projects in NetSuite, including budgets, funding ceilings, contract line items (CLINs), and work breakdown structures (WBS)
Track and reconcile project-level costs; prepare monthly variance analyses against approved budgets and contract funding
Support project closeout activities including final billing, revenue true-up, and balance sheet reconciliation
Prepare monthly project financial reports for program managers and finance leadership
Allocate direct and indirect costs to contracts in compliance with FAR Part 31 cost principles and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS)
Maintain and update indirect rate structures including fringe, overhead, GA, and fee pools; support forward pricing rate proposals (FPRPs)
Validate labor distributions against timesheets and payroll records to ensure accurate cost capture across programs
Support government contract compliance and audits, including incurred cost submissions and DCAA audit activities
Ensure compliance with FAR, CAS, DFARS, and agency requirements, including preparation and submission of required government financial reports
We’re looking for someone who has:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
5+ years of progressive cost accounting experience
Demonstrated experience with TM contract billing, cost-reimbursable contracts, and incurred cost submissions
Proficiency with NetSuite and Excel required
Strong analytical and data aggregation skills, with a high level of attention to detail
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across Finance, Contracts, and Program Management teams
Ability to manage multiple priorities across a portfolio of contracts in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
Nice to have:
At least 3 years in government contract accounting (FAR/CAS/DCAA compliance)
Active CPA license or CPA eligibility
