Job's mission The Senior Manager, Inventory Logistics Business Control is a critical finance role responsible for the financial oversight, accuracy, and governance of inventory and logistics cost flows at ASM. This role owns the end-to-end financial management of inventory — spanning raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), finished goods, and spare parts — and serves as the primary finance partner to supply chain operations, warehouse management, and logistics teams. In the semiconductor equipment industry, where component lead times can span months, inventory values are substantial, and logistics networks span multiple continents, this role provides essential financial rigor. The role ensures that inventory is accurately valued, that excess and obsolescence risks are proactively identified and reserved, that freight and logistics costs are tightly controlled, and that working capital is continuously optimized. The role partners closely with Manufacturing Finance, Procurement Finance, and FPA to deliver integrated financial insight across the supply chain. What you will be working on Inventory Accounting, Valuation and Control Own the month-end close process for all inventory accounts, including raw materials, sub-assemblies, WIP, finished goods, field service spares, and consigned inventory Maintain accurate inventory valuation under standard costing methodology, support periodic standard cost updates and revaluation of inventory balances Perform and review inventory reconciliations across ERP, warehouse management systems (WMS), and physical stock counts, investigating and resolving variances Manage cycle count and physical inventory count programs, coordinating with warehouse operations and auditors to ensure inventory accuracy and SOX compliance Ensure proper accounting treatment for inventory receipts, transfers, returns, scraps, and adjustments in compliance with IFRS and company policy Track and report inventory days on hand (DOH), inventory turns, and slow-moving inventory metrics by category and site, highlighting trends and risks Collaborate with planning team to maintain financial models to support inventory optimization decisions Excess Obsolescence (EO) Reserve Management Design, maintain, and periodically review the excess and obsolescence (EO) reserve policy, ensuring reserves accurately reflect inventory risk across all categories Conduct EO analysis by product line, customer, and vintage, identifying at-risk inventory and recommending reserve levels to management Partner with supply chain, engineering, and product management to assess end-of-life (EOL) components, engineering change orders (ECOs), and discontinued product inventories Track disposition of excess and obsolete inventory (write-offs, returns to supplier, liquidations, repurposing) and ensure proper financial recording Present EO reserve analysis and risk exposure to finance leadership on a quarterly basis; support external auditors queries Logistics Freight Cost Management Own the financial management of global logistics costs including inbound freight, customs duties, warehousing, and third-party logistics (3PL) provider costs Analyze logistics cost variances versus plan, identifying root causes such as expedite freight, carrier mix, lane changes, ...
