Fire Protection Engineer

Thanks for your interest in Oklo! We are searching for a Fire Protection Engineer to join our engineering team. We are looking to fill this position immediately. Position Description Fire Protection Engineers at Oklo are responsible for the design and development of the fire protection systems in Oklo's power plants. Specific responsibilities may include: Establish fire protection requirements that inform plant design Develop Fire Hazard Analyses, Fire Protection Program, First Safe Shutdown Analyses, and other licensing and design documentation Define equipment architecture, specifications, operational modes, and performance criteria Lead the design of fire protection equipment Perform commissioning and testing of fire protection systems Manage projects with third party fire protection consultants Document work using modern tools and techniques, and compose well-written, thoughtful technical reports Minimum Qualifications: Engineering education, potentially Fire Protection, Nuclear, Chemical, or Mechanical Experience performing design of fire protection systems in the nuclear, petroleum, petrochemical, or pharmaceutical industries Broad familiarity with engineering principles, and having strong systems engineering and operations intuition Competencies We are looking for a Fire Protection Engineer that is: Knowledgable in nuclear facility fire protection design and operations under an NRC or DOE license Experienced with NFPA 804 or NFPA 850 Experience with IBC or IFC standards Passionate about making advanced fission a reality Willing and able to learn quickly Willing to think differently and do things in new ways Comfortable in a fast-paced, highly iterative startup environment Excited to think creatively, critically, and reflectively about the problems they are solving while not leaning only on what has been done before Willing to propose novel and creative solutions to technical problems An excellent writer who can write in a modern active voice, so make your cover letter compelling and write it well!
